Watching this only reinforces that we let some adults who actually have a plan take over and see if we can dig out of this recession pit.

I didn’t like McLame’s intro about hoping that he would be addressing the audience in a different capacity (i.e. as preezy), but he has recovered nicely by HAMMERING Obumphuk’s leadership and foreign policy FAILURES.

It’s hilarious observing troll activity on sites today.

They’re displaying typical adolescent frustration and fury in reaction to the MSM-Yahoo meltdown fiasco as we saw in earlier threads with ‘anonymous’.

They’re also clinging with desperation to their phantom “Republicans threw peanuts at a black woman” fable with boilerplate word-for-word copy and paste posts on just about every conservative site.

Tonight’s early speakers are such a letdown after last night.

I’ve never heard Cathy McMorris Rogers (from my state). I wish these guys wouldn’t speak from a teleprompter. It’s so stilted and I dislike the contrived pauses for applause.

I know they have to pander to women in order to be heard by the Left’s Stockholmers, but I don’t like the nod to separate voting blocs, it’s not in my tea party dna.

Does it seem to anyone else that in order to have cred in politics anymore you have to be just off the boat? How many of these speakers were the first ones in their family to graduate from college? I sorta don’t like the show of familial humility coming from (mostly) people who have a congressional healthcare plan and pension. I think they should have showed clips from “The Hope and the Change” instead of these oddball musicians.

@AbigailAdams: “I tell ya, I don’t think I can take another speech about what’s wrong with barry — like we don’t know, already!”

Of course *we* know. It’s the speakers who are just learning that perhaps Ivy League creds and a really awesome pants crease are not *necessarily* the very best indicators that someone would be a person whose presidency “we should not fear”.

The realization by the elite of an elite-on-elite betrayal is such a painful thing to watch, in no small part because it was so damn obvious to us proles.

The President and Vice President are the chief statesmen of the people of the United States of America. Why should it be difficult, or unheard of, for either of these individuals to speak on matters which the position requires decisions to be made in?

I’m just not seeing any statesmanship from the “ticket”, other than from the one experienced individual tonight who isn’t running for office.

Yes, we have internal problems, and yes they are big. But people, we are talking about more than America paying the bills, we are talking about America leading the world in what life should be like for every living being on earth. Or would the rest of the world rather be run by the Chinese?

This is the subject/prose/focus that SHOULD be the focus of American politics.

@Eric, I only caught half of Condi’s speech and all of Ryan’s. There are threats without, but we’re being so hobbled internally that without addressing those issues – the heart, spirit and will of what is quintessentially American – first (let alone shedding those mechanism place by the current administration that reward dependency), we will be useless to deal with the rest of the world. To me, it’s as if you’re expecting an ailing person to get up and jujitsu the nasty asshole down the hall.

“But the American ideal is indeed endangered today. There is no country, no not even a rising China, that can do more harm to us than we can do to ourselves if we fail to accomplish the tasks before us here at home.” – Condoleezzaa Rice, Convention Stage, 8/29/12

    Ya, it’s just that dire.

Eric, I don’t disagree with you but I do think much of the country cares primarily about problems from within. It would be nice to see someone with the international outlook of Reagen, Thatcher, or Churchill – but the most important thing right now is getting Barry out of office. I think we’ll hear more about foreign policy and international politics as things develop, especially during the debates, where the moderators can be counted on to try and expose that as a weak spot for Romney.

Internal conflicts/strife create internal problems/chaos/destabilization (a house built on sand will not stand).

External conflicts/strife create internal unity/strength/freedom (a house built on rock will stand).

What we do internally is only a question because we are not united as a country against it’s enemies, external, and INTERNAL.

    FWIW

Go back in the archives here and note that your pal Chief wanted Mr. Ryan to run for President at least two years ago.

Welcome to the future, my friends. It’s a good one!

My heart is lighter and mind more at ease tonight than it has been for at least 4 years and more.

Excellent comments from the regulars here!

Mr. Hat — Love the shirt idea — so upbeat, so resolved “We Can Do This!” I could just imagine Ryan on the phone w/Romney: “Let’s do this.”

The “it” that Ryan possesses are our better angels. He gave voice to them tonight — he’s a clear channel.

His appeal to ALL Americans to weigh out the choices and make a decision was political brilliance, more than Reaganesque. And he called out the Left, put them “on notice” in an unequivocal move that put them in check with nothing left on the board but a infantile mouthpiece on a cable station with fewer viewers than a margin of error in a NYTs poll.

God in Heaven, keep watch over this man.

The common message I see is, “Elect us, we will save America”, oh, and put Obama out of office.

The message I saw from Condi was, “Save America with R&R, and America will save the world from it’s own self destruction”.

If there isn’t any “world vision” from the next President, or his party, there will be no difference in the world vision of America when he is elected.

    @Eric–

“…we are not united as a country against it’s enemies, external, and INTERNAL.”

    I do agree with that.

    “External conflicts/strife create internal unity/strength/freedom…”

This will never happen, as long as BHO and his minions look upon our allies as enemies, and our enemies as allies.

BTW ,the lefty sewage dump copy and paste hive is going into Axelturf overdrive hitting Ryan for an alleged “error” that the Janesville,WI closed in 2008 and not in 2009.

    It DID close in 2009.

From the 9-19-2011 Milwaukee JS Online:

“The Janesville plant stopped production of SUVs in 2008 and was idled in 2009 after it completed production of medium-duty trucks.”

    @Eric –

    “….External conflicts/strife create internal unity/strength/freedom……..”

When your “internal” has been so thoroughly gutted – as it has in the last four years – that there isn’t a foundation left to unite, external strife only adds to the problem.

Let’s rebuild our foundation first, all the while keeping an eye out on our enemies abroad.

@Stirrin — Well said. I’d add: When you don’t have it, you don’t have it to give. It’s been so long since there was anyone in the national leadership who was unfettered enough to speak for the rest of us, to encourage us and point the way out. One of the speakers tonight brought up the “light at the end of the tunnel” analogy. As a nation we must first find daylight for ourselves and we can’t really help anyone until that happens.
