Watching this only reinforces that we let some adults who actually have a plan take over and see if we can dig out of this recession pit.
Maudie N Mandeville
Someone tell me when McConnell is finished.
i hate john mccann
and also carl rove.
How do you get a profile pic?
i hold this guy responsible for the mess in washington. he has been there tooo long.
does not speak for true conservatives.
Stirrin the B.S.
I didn’t like McLame’s intro about hoping that he would be addressing the audience in a different capacity (i.e. as preezy), but he has recovered nicely by HAMMERING Obumphuk’s leadership and foreign policy FAILURES.
Birdie Num Num
It’s hilarious observing troll activity on sites today.
They’re displaying typical adolescent frustration and fury in reaction to the MSM-Yahoo meltdown fiasco as we saw in earlier threads with ‘anonymous’.
They’re also clinging with desperation to their phantom “Republicans threw peanuts at a black woman” fable with boilerplate word-for-word copy and paste posts on just about every conservative site.
Tonight’s early speakers are such a letdown after last night.
I’ve never heard Cathy McMorris Rogers (from my state). I wish these guys wouldn’t speak from a teleprompter. It’s so stilted and I dislike the contrived pauses for applause.
I know they have to pander to women in order to be heard by the Left’s Stockholmers, but I don’t like the nod to separate voting blocs, it’s not in my tea party dna.
I hope Ryan doesn’t wear out his “debt, doubt and decline” rhetoric. Please dear God, don’t let the pols dumb this down.
Sam Olens is a bit of a schleppy dandy, no?
And with Pami Bondi, this seems like an SNL skit.
Who ya watchin’ Birdie?
I read (with much laughter) that the Ds flew another anti-Romney banner with a misspelling in it. God does have such a sense of humor.
Pam Bondi, media whore.
i was thinking same thing. jon lovitz clone.
Yeah, that Bondi-Olens duo was, well…..pretty lame.
I tell ya, I don’t think I can take another speech about what’s wrong with barry — like we don’t know, already! I think that’s why Christy’s speech was a barn burner last night. Maybe Thune will catch a wave.
the sd guy has a don draper do going on.
Bondi/Olens was like an Academy Award set up, the only thing missing was the giggling in between each statement.
Boobie the Rocket Dog
Bondi’s a little chunkier than I thought. And their speech sounded like college sophomores.
McCain looked OLD, like he was going to topple at any minute.
hey this indian guy rocks.
Watching on CSPAN. Had to pause for a while. Just now watching the Bush tribute. Awesome!
$4.49 per gallon at pump today.
Does it seem to anyone else that in order to have cred in politics anymore you have to be just off the boat? How many of these speakers were the first ones in their family to graduate from college? I sorta don’t like the show of familial humility coming from (mostly) people who have a congressional healthcare plan and pension. I think they should have showed clips from “The Hope and the Change” instead of these oddball musicians.
(I shouldn’t write any more today — I’m in an impatient mood.)
this band is good.
That matrosaxeal womern with the lesbean glasses whats tryin’ ta sing like a scalded cat ain’t no Conservative.
Spent $77 filling my tank today – keep up the sticky note campaign.
Never did like womerns with more facial hair than me.
The guitarist looked like E.G. Smith (with a haircut) to me. Just looked him up. Yep, playing for the RNC. SNL from 1985-1995.
I dunno. I like the band, though I don’t recognize them. Not Mangione, not Spyrogyra.
i was wondering about that guitarist. good call.
ok. i am moving to puerto rico.
I stick a note every time I put gas in.
Note I didn’t say fill up.
What’s the point when the price changes daily or I drive 25 miles west and pay $0.50 less per gallon?
When prices are stable, I fill up.
Roscoe P. Soultrane
@AbigailAdams: “I tell ya, I don’t think I can take another speech about what’s wrong with barry — like we don’t know, already!”
Of course *we* know. It’s the speakers who are just learning that perhaps Ivy League creds and a really awesome pants crease are not *necessarily* the very best indicators that someone would be a person whose presidency “we should not fear”.
The realization by the elite of an elite-on-elite betrayal is such a painful thing to watch, in no small part because it was so damn obvious to us proles.
ahhhhhhhhhhh timmy p. coming on.
Caught up. Pawlenty is speaking.
Thank goodness Romney went with fire instead of milquetoast for the VP pick.
Say, this band is pretty good once they got that dang hairy womern out of the way. Great sax.
I want to see Sarah speak. Then I want to see Newt speak.
he had some great lines.
“all people fail at their first job”
The lines are good he just can’t deliver them. Lousy speaker.
Pawlenty on Obummer:
“many people fail at their FIRST job”
Huckabee is thankful he followed Palenty. So far he isn’t doing much for me either.
Well, no adrenalin here. Will be back for Ryan.
Yep, Pawlenty and Huckabee (following McCain) are “yawn” moments as the old guard gets recognition.
Thank goodness for the “new guard” of the Republican party. We have a great future!!!!
Huckabee is getting better.
@Huckabee is so lame…why is he there?
He just referred to Ann Romney’s “speech on MONDAY night”!
Monday’s events were cancelled because of the weather, so she didn’t speak until LAST night.
He didn’t even update his speech. Pitiful!
I’ve got the sound muted until Ryan comes on.
@Roscoe — Great point — hadn’t thought of it that way. Thanks.
@Plain Jane — Me too.
I wasn’t much looking forward to Huckabee…but he’s doing pretty good. Saying stuff I was expecting Christie to say last night. Some red meat, eh?
All I really want to hear from pols and former pols like McCain and Huckabee is “I’m sorry, I was complicit in racking up the first few trillion.”
Listening to Huck is like hearing that song you hate on the radio – you can be grateful it’s on because that means it will be a while before you’ll have to listen to it again.
I just hope he left the guitar at home.
Huckster- Don’t tell me about Bone-O.
Tell me about your great Chick-Fil-A Day idea, your only accomplishment in four years!
Huckabee laid the smack down. And the music rocks!
Am disappointed that Huck got such a prime spot.
Thinking some of last night’s speakers would have been better for tonight — like Nikki Haley, Artur Davis, Mia Love, etc.
Condi is coming on stage!!!!!
I love Condi!!!
sidenote-I’m growing weary of commentators always talking about the Repub’s having to win over women.
Just had to say it.
@illustr8r — we’re watching CSPAN. No pundit comments. Nice.
Condi is great!
“We cannot be reluctant to lead, and you cannot lead from behind.”
everyone is listening to condi.
great question she posed
“where does america stand?”
“we do not have a choice…you cannot lead from behind.”
Did anybody else notice that she was sitting with Mitt and Ann after Ann’s great speech last night?
Clear, concise, business like and ever a professional. Rock on Condi!
So far, Rice is the only speaker who has not glanced at the TelePrompTers. She’s looking at notes on the podium, a traditionalist!!
(I have Fox on downstairs…I’m working upstairs.)
Condi is grrreat!
Rice is brilliant. I hope Romney gives her a cabinet post!
America — “what and idea it is. It doesn’t matter where you came from, it matters where you’re going.”
oops — “an idea”
i saw that last nite. she is fantastic.
Ms. Rice Rocks! She needs to be called back into harness.
Gol-dang I love smart womerns.
WOW! She is absolutely eviscerating BO’s philosophy!
@norman — all she want is to be the NFL Commissioner.
love how she pronounces ally.
I left to go exercise a bit. Listened to Condi on the radio. She had all the adrenalin for the whole previous bunch. Great. Great.
Her momentum gave me the impetus to get the push-ups done quickly.
I will no longer call out my “oops” typos. This is a great night and I’m posting too many comments across the interwebs to worry about oopsies!
@jclady, I know she said that in the past…but why is she here?
Maybe she’ll answer if called.
Finally a speaker that speaks the truth and gets us up.
“This is the civil rights issue of today” Love it!
My God, she’s full of Ronny! (that’s a GOOD thing)
Wow…the conviction of this woman is breathtaking!
BARN BURNER! GO CONDI!!
she must have been a force with our enemies.
Condi just knocked it out of the park with the (black) girl who couldn’t sit at the counter of Woolworths, could grow up to be Secretary of State.
I’ve been watching her Wiki to see if it’s vandalized – I had wondered why the band played the beginning of Sweet Home Alabama when she walked onto the stage – turns out Condi’s from Birmingham.
Damn that was a great speech.
why do hispanic women pronounce their name with a spanish accent? when they have no accent speaking english.
And God bless Condi Rice.
norman — just my opinion (and you know what they say about opinions!)…
Condi is a true patriot and will rise to any occassion required of her. She has her personal dreams, but if a speech at the convention is required for the salvation of the country she loves, she will willingly comply.
I’ll bet Barrys ass puckers everytime someone requotes his “you didn’t build that” comment.
You know, for all hate us Republicans have for women, we sure do have a lot of women in public service.
I’ll Be Damned, We’re Republicans!!!
The best line of the entire convention
Susana Martinez -
Martinez is awesome — “additional 5 trillion of debt. Obama did buid that.”
Condi Rice was was outstanding. Gov. Susana Martinez of N.M. is on now. I like her style. obama “built” the national dept. Waiting for Ryan.
A democrat, Susan Martinez, looked at her husband and said, “I’ll be damned, we’re Republicans!”
An Hispanic (American) epiphony.
Martinez has mucho testosterone. Great speak.
For me, this woman, Susana Martinez, is what makes me proud to be an American.
She is what it is all about.
I don’t even mind the Spanish speaking, as long as she’s speaking American, if you know what I’m saying.
I thought the same thing Fur!
I’m surprised. Condi’s a tough act to follow, but Martinez was very good.
please Lord .. Bless Paul Ryan
Perfect intro music for him.
Ya think Jan Brewer will be the mystery speaker?
What a humble man.
Paul Ryan 0n Obumphuk’s campaign: “with all their attack ads, they’re just throwing away money….and they’re pretty good at that. SNAP!!
Scott Walker Tearing Up.
No, Mystery Speaker Will Be Clint Eastwood
was that scott walker crying?
Oh yeah, Ryans gets it.
BFH, that would be fabulous. His last line (to Obummer) Well punk, do you feel lucky?
The silence in the auditorium is palpable.
Borrowed, spent and wasted.
I don’t know what “it” is, but Paul Ryan has “it.”
Idiot in the house with her pink banner.
wtf did he mean the 23 million people would stetch across the country.
Good. Defuse the mediscare tactic. I think they’re catching on anyway.
Repeal obamacare? Hell, repeal EVERYTHING!
Did I just see someone being lead out of the hall?
More from Paul Ryan on Obumphuks’s (green) policies: “That money wasn’t just wasted. it was BORROWED, spent and wasted!”
Ouch, that’s gonna leave a mark.
Adults are trying to clean up the house and some stupid filth is running around with some stupid sign.
I love to hear Clint say the Whitehouse is the peoples house. Get off our lawn.
“The greatest threat to Medicare is Obamacare, and we’re going to stop it.”
He’s hitting it out of the park…especially about Medicare.
That filth just proved undesirables can, and do, get in – like the ones who were abusive to the CNN camerawoman. Still hoping for the details on that story.
Our nation wants this debate, needs this debate and we will win this debate. I think I just got a thrill up my leg.
Yesterday’s wind. Good allusion.
Obama is yesterdays flatulence.
“What is missing is leadership in the White House.”
Obama likes Greek columns in his ass.
Assumed responsibility.. that’s going to leave a mark. Because BUSH!
Paul Ryan is hitting a Grand Slam!
Oh shit the gloves are off.
BFH “I don’t know what “it” is, but Paul Ryan has “it.”
It’s the presence that one would imagine Horvath or Mitch Rapp to have.
There’s actually too much material for Ryan to deal with. Obama has more vulnerabilities than Carter.
Take away his blackness and there is NOTHING LEFT.
Lol: Mark Levin
Paul Ryan kicking ass!

@Mr. Pinko — I said “grand slam” first!
i had an image of barry fiddling like nero.
@Fur — Racist!
Ryan is “All That”! Damn great speech!
Well Bammy can’t get away with saying how HIS mom is his role model very easily.
That is the winning moment- Mother. granddaughter, son.
It: Competent, poised, good communicator, and a certain je ne sais quoi.
My mom was 51 when my dad died.
She is still my role model!
Ooh, he’s talking math. I’m swooning!!!
@illustr8r – GMTA!!!
@ BigFurHat: I know what Ryan has and I want “it”. :0)
make a commercial out of his moter’s story and his comment “my Mom is my role model!
@jclady LOL! Good lord I hate math but not when Mr. Ryan speaks of it.
American Exceptionalism. He knows it.
Now A/B Paul Ryan vs. Joe Biden
I want to take the Paultards who say “there is no difference between Obama and Romney” and collective clunk their empty heads together. HARD.
@illustr8r — I hear ya!
fading obama posters.
…looking up at fading Obama posters and wondering when they can get on with life!
“staring at Obama posters wondering when they are going to get going in life”
Fading Obama posters! That was a kick in the nuts.
-a government planned life.
Amazing. He so gets it.
Long live the tea party.
An American Journey!
I just jumped in the air and fist pumped
FreeMan - Mystery Speaker Sarah
“Everything is free, but us”
Fantastic line, and so very true.
I think I might cry.
Man I wish I could see the reaction at the White House.
I’ll take that over the supervision and sanctimony of the central planners.
Me too BFH! Holy smokes!!!
AC/DC to Zeppelin!
YOU ROCK RYAN!!!
This is unreal… This is Mr. Smith Goes To Washington
Now he’s connecting…
Brown Eyed Girl
I’m a Nevada frontier girl now, but I was born and raised a Buckeye. I’m so proud tonight!
you must like good looking nerds also
Paul Ryan is THE ONE I’ve been waiting for.
Paul Ryan is going to win this thing for us.
There’s fear in DC tonight.
The White House is already planning Joe Biden’s mysterious illness that will prevent him from debating Ryan.
@Plain Jane — A great brain is the best sex appeal for me.
And dreamy eyes don’t hurt!
I have no trouble believing Ryan wrote most, if not all, of his own speech tonight. Who’s with me?
Romney scored BIG TIME with Ryan as his Veep. I am so pumped!
Ryan actually outshines Romney, but he has class and he will do the right thing for this country and perform the role that he has been given – until his time comes.
@Fur — Agree.
Ryan is THE ONE we’ve all been waiting for.
Just saw my heart throb – Newt.
Probably right – it sounds too much like his actual thoughts to be fake.
Killer speech. One of the best I’ve ever heard.
Rights from nature and God and not from gov. WOW!
I need a cig.
23:02 Re-apply our founding principles. Chills.
jclady – me too but I have to have the add of a great warped sense of humor and conservative politics
So, single ladies who have no clue about politics but look only on the surface…how can they vote for O over Ryan?
Women’s vote shmote…
i agree with you.
We can do this!!
We Can DO THIS!!!!!!
Gonna do the shirts right now
Yes, by golly. Paul Ryan is that good, he is so fit mentally and physically his arse can and WILL carry Mitt to the finish line.
Hope and Change!
Just DO IT!!!!!
I’m smiling. Good lord. AWESOME.
Levin will be very happy tomorrow.
Chris Matthews is saying Ryan’s speech stunk. “A canned political ad”
I love seeing his family – Mom must be SO proud!
Paul Ryan: “We will not spend the next four years blaming those before us”
HA HA HAAA HAAAA. Take that OBlamer-in Chief!
Chrissy Matthews couldn’t compose a speech to convince a dog to take a dump.
Decent, good speeches. Condi kicked ass.
Don’t shoot me, but I challenge his speech to any speech Reagan ever gave.
I’m telling y’all, in the 50+ years I’ve been following politics, I don’t know when I have been as moved and excited as I am right now.
We have crowned the future of our great country!
Brit Hume says Ryan delivered a lethal shot tonight. MOAR!
Right On JC
He is a cut from the same cloth
I turned down Casablanca (and for me, that’s unheard of) to listen to that speech and don’t regret it a single bit.
What a bore11111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111111!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@
Oh, and screw Chris Matthews and his fellow libtard punks.
Bless their little ol’ shriveled up hearts,
And I’ll add Anonymous to my blessing.
@Fur — let us know when the shirts are ready.
I just did the unheard of for me & turned to MSLSD. First shot was Chrissy with his mouth gaping open in a glaze of appreciation for Rachel. He actually looked retarded. What an opener.
Fur, what the hell were you doing listening to Chris Matthews??? WGAF???
@Freeman — “Jesus”.
Chrissy still thinks of demographics in fly-over terms: Ryan didn’t speak to the whole country. Like I said, he’s going to need a whole team of shrinks.
I have to disagree with some others, only Condi was even close to Ronald Reagan. Why did no one else have a message that included America on a world vision? Why did no other speaker have anything to say about how not all America’s problems are internal? How come no one else had vision beyond the borders?
I’m sooo pumped.
Paul Ryan was excellent. Perfect speech all the way. “Look, no teleprompter!” Great bang-up job.
It almost seems that each speaker delivered a message of their specialty. The loudest, strongest voice to deliver the message that Condi delivered was Condi. Ryan delivered what he needed to deliver.
Looks like the speaker organizers did a good job with division of message. Otherwise it would get redundant.
Speaking of Biden coming down with a mysterious illness:
“Meanwhile, @JoeBiden is trying to figure out how to unlock the bathroom door.”
Bless Chris Matthews’ heart. (Ya’ see jclady? I’m learning!)
Those are good points. Perhaps they wanted to keep the focus internal – that’s where Barry’s weakest areas are. Economy, education, medicare, etc.
Down south we say, “Isn’t that precious?”
It means, “Who gives a shit?”
@HC — I’m so proud of you!
@ plain jane,
The President and Vice President are the chief statesmen of the people of the United States of America. Why should it be difficult, or unheard of, for either of these individuals to speak on matters which the position requires decisions to be made in?
I’m just not seeing any statesmanship from the “ticket”, other than from the one experienced individual tonight who isn’t running for office.
Yes, we have internal problems, and yes they are big. But people, we are talking about more than America paying the bills, we are talking about America leading the world in what life should be like for every living being on earth. Or would the rest of the world rather be run by the Chinese?
This is the subject/prose/focus that SHOULD be the focus of American politics.
Eric, What the hell is your problem. I am glad you are interested in world affairs but give it a break. The speaches were great.
I get what you mean.
Wonder if she will resume her former role under Romney???
@Eric — if you didn’t hear a message of statesmanship from Ryan tonight, then I suggest you go back and re-watch (and listen to) his speech prior to watching and listening to Romney tomorrow night.
Next you will be saying Romney and Ryan lack Gravitas!
I hear Matthews is getting that feel on his leg only this time its urine running down it.
Aw, isn’t Eric precious?
No offense, just stating my opinion.
There’s no need to attack me.
In that light, my original statement was, I didn’t see any international position from anyone speaking tonight, or last night, that was comparable to Reagan, except for Condi Rice, who was brilliant. And that I think there should be more Condi/Reagan in our next President.
@Eric, I only caught half of Condi’s speech and all of Ryan’s. There are threats without, but we’re being so hobbled internally that without addressing those issues – the heart, spirit and will of what is quintessentially American – first (let alone shedding those mechanism place by the current administration that reward dependency), we will be useless to deal with the rest of the world. To me, it’s as if you’re expecting an ailing person to get up and jujitsu the nasty asshole down the hall.
“But the American ideal is indeed endangered today. There is no country, no not even a rising China, that can do more harm to us than we can do to ourselves if we fail to accomplish the tasks before us here at home.” – Condoleezzaa Rice, Convention Stage, 8/29/12
Ya, it’s just that dire.
When a plane decompresses – you put your oxygen mask on first, then you can help everyone else.
Eric, I don’t disagree with you but I do think much of the country cares primarily about problems from within. It would be nice to see someone with the international outlook of Reagen, Thatcher, or Churchill – but the most important thing right now is getting Barry out of office. I think we’ll hear more about foreign policy and international politics as things develop, especially during the debates, where the moderators can be counted on to try and expose that as a weak spot for Romney.
Internal conflicts/strife create internal problems/chaos/destabilization (a house built on sand will not stand).
External conflicts/strife create internal unity/strength/freedom (a house built on rock will stand).
What we do internally is only a question because we are not united as a country against it’s enemies, external, and INTERNAL.
Go back in the archives here and note that your pal Chief wanted Mr. Ryan to run for President at least two years ago.
Welcome to the future, my friends. It’s a good one!
August 30th, 2012
My heart is lighter and mind more at ease tonight than it has been for at least 4 years and more.
Excellent comments from the regulars here!
Mr. Hat — Love the shirt idea — so upbeat, so resolved “We Can Do This!” I could just imagine Ryan on the phone w/Romney: “Let’s do this.”
The “it” that Ryan possesses are our better angels. He gave voice to them tonight — he’s a clear channel.
His appeal to ALL Americans to weigh out the choices and make a decision was political brilliance, more than Reaganesque. And he called out the Left, put them “on notice” in an unequivocal move that put them in check with nothing left on the board but a infantile mouthpiece on a cable station with fewer viewers than a margin of error in a NYTs poll.
God in Heaven, keep watch over this man.
The common message I see is, “Elect us, we will save America”, oh, and put Obama out of office.
The message I saw from Condi was, “Save America with R&R, and America will save the world from it’s own self destruction”.
If there isn’t any “world vision” from the next President, or his party, there will be no difference in the world vision of America when he is elected.
“…we are not united as a country against it’s enemies, external, and INTERNAL.”
I do agree with that.
“External conflicts/strife create internal unity/strength/freedom…”
This will never happen, as long as BHO and his minions look upon our allies as enemies, and our enemies as allies.
All I can say is if Thursday’s line up tops what I saw just now, I will have to tie myself to a chair. We will win. Boo is a one term loser. Thank God. I am.
In any event; Let us pray God that there are more Conservative votes than Liberal come November.(and we can overcome the cheating at the ballot box)
BTW ,the lefty sewage dump copy and paste hive is going into Axelturf overdrive hitting Ryan for an alleged “error” that the Janesville,WI closed in 2008 and not in 2009.
It DID close in 2009.
From the 9-19-2011 Milwaukee JS Online:
“The Janesville plant stopped production of SUVs in 2008 and was idled in 2009 after it completed production of medium-duty trucks.”
Here’s the link:
Cling to your threads of dying hope ,leftards.
Just reading most of the above comments here is a big shot in the arm for me.
America’s got HOPE, the real stuff not the kind they put on crap sandwiches.
Is Obama Preparing For A Total Takeover?
There is a lot of evidence to suggest that the answer is yes.
Learn more here….
So many accomplished intelligent women, what on Earth are commies talking about? Wondering if Michele Bachmann is going to speak and if not, why not.
“….External conflicts/strife create internal unity/strength/freedom……..”
When your “internal” has been so thoroughly gutted – as it has in the last four years – that there isn’t a foundation left to unite, external strife only adds to the problem.
Let’s rebuild our foundation first, all the while keeping an eye out on our enemies abroad.
@Stirrin — Well said. I’d add: When you don’t have it, you don’t have it to give. It’s been so long since there was anyone in the national leadership who was unfettered enough to speak for the rest of us, to encourage us and point the way out. One of the speakers tonight brought up the “light at the end of the tunnel” analogy. As a nation we must first find daylight for ourselves and we can’t really help anyone until that happens.
“Isn’t that precious?” – I say that to parents who have funny looking babies.
