    I did not know that the artist knew what Jesus Christ looks like? I thought a man who was born and lived in that part of the world would have a darker hue to his skin? Looks like this artist has some wishful thinking on his part. Of course Christ was white and he was a right wing conservative. What a bunch of loons.

    For the first thousand years or so most people didn’t really understand the different physical appearances of the races. Each society seems to have painted or sculpted Jesus as a member of their own race. My two favorite representations of the Virgin Mary are the statue of Our Lady of LaVang and a beautiful painting of Our Lady of Peking. It’s comforting to see Jesus depicted as being as close to your own family as possible. It’s completely irrelevant to who he is. A blonde Virgin Mary or Jesus seems Eurocentric and unjust only if you’re looking for Eurocentrism and injustice. You really need to get over it.
