Marine arrested for Facebook posts ordered to be released by Circuit Court judge

Today, the Rutherford Institute in released statements stated that an unexpected ruling handed down today by Circuit Court Judge Allan Sharrett, the judge dismissed the government’s case against Brandon Raub, the former Marine who was arrested by local policeand FBI agents, detained in a psychiatric ward and forced to undergo psychological evaluations based solely on the controversial nature of lines from song lyrics, political messages, and virtual card games which he posted to his private Facebook page.
The Paulding County Republican Examiner has been following this case since Raub’sdetention.
They said that Judge Sharrett dismissed the petition for involuntary commitment on the grounds that the petition “is so devoid of any factual allegations that it could not be reasonably expected to give rise to a case or controversy.”
John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute stated that Raub is expected to be released immediately.
“This is a great victory for the First Amendment and the rule of law,” said John W. Whitehead, president of The Rutherford Institute. “Brandon Raub was arrested with no warning, targeted for doing nothing more than speaking out against the government, detained against his will, and isolated from his family, friends and attorneys. These are the kinds of things that take place in totalitarian societies. Today, at least, Judge Allan Sharrett proved that justice can still prevail in America.” MORE

Thank God for our Constitution.
The enemy is inside the gate now. Let’s hope we can clean up this mess at the next election.

Expect the judge to reverse himself, once his family suddenly goes on unexpected… “vacation.”

We talk about fearing the government doing things like this.
And then the government does something like this.

Kind of OT
I was told by my Sgt. Yesterday to remove this tag line from my police dept. email:
May God bless and keep you
I was told it was because of the separation of church and state and an impending lawsuit against our city for a church on its city seal.
I then read recent emails from my chief that had the terms “God bless” and “say a prayer” in them.
The persecution is getting worse folks…..

Nah, not necessary. The guy has already been involuntarily committed. He’s basically forever barred from owning or buying firearms, good luck with future job applications, etc. Dude’s pretty well fucked.

@muddjuice–
What are you going to do? Can you put it into the body of your message, so it isn’t technically a “tagline”? Can you put it on as a sort of letterhead? Can you write it in a foreign language, or maybe pig latin? Have some graphic artist [BFH?] put it into a clever logo?
Just trying to think up some stop-gap civil disobedience stuff for you.

Well, for now I removed it and here’s why. The email is owned by the city and not me so they can dictate what is or is not on it. That’s not a cop out.
I have long told my wife that the day is soon approaching that I will be told to renounce my religion or get out of government work. This is but the first step.
I will come up with some sort of phrase to put in my tag line. Maybe quote a president or put the national motto on it.
For now, I started compiling a list of biblical or Godly references by the fed govt, on buildings and monuments.
Have you heard of the proposed bill from the 111th Congress (house res 397) from May of 2009?

Check it out to see a great list of our biblical, Christian heritage……

I would never accuse you of a cop out! Just throwing out a couple of little ideas.
Hang in there. The very presence of someone like you, a man of principle and integrity, is more effective than any tagline.

I’m hoping you’re right. But in the 14 years I’ve been there, I’ve seen an increase in persecution. Most of it subtle, now becoming more overt.
I was told by a Lt to “leave my faith at the door” when I come to work. I refused…..

“Leave your faith at the door”–as if you could!
I will keep you in my prayers.
As was written in the note handed to Eric Liddell just before his race in the 1924 Olympics in Paris: “As it says in the good book, ‘Those who honor me, I will honor’ [I Samuel 2:30].
