Study: U.S. hostile to religious liberty

Charlie Butts – OneNewsNow

A new survey conducted by two conservative groups reveals proven hostility toward Christianity in the U.S.

The joint study from Liberty Institute and the Family Research Council (FRC) records up to 600 incidents of hostility toward religion, most of which have occurred within the last ten years. For example, a Christian couple was fired as apartment complex managers and forced to move because a painting with a Christian reference was displayed in their office (see earlier story). Also listed is a student who was told he could not wear a t-shirt to school because of its Christian message.

Liberty Institute attorney Justin Butterfield tells OneNewsNow what his group hopes to accomplish with the study’s findings.

“We want to raise awareness of the issue. A lot of people think that hostility because of people’s religious beliefs and attacks on religious liberty are things that happen elsewhere in the world, not in the United States,” he notes. “We just want to show that it actually happens with increasing and alarming regularity here in the United States.”

This is news? Sorry, but anyone paying attention (includes all of iOTW readers) knows this is happening. The rest will just wave it off as unimportant hysterics by a rabid extremist right-wing hate group.

I find it amuzing to read time after time that between 60 and 70 percent of Americans profess to beileive in God (the Judeo-Christian God) and yet this is happening?

So where are all the defenders of the faith?

Not much hostility in Arkansas. Not very many muslims or liberals with the balls to disrespect a Christian redneck who knows how to defend his or her freedoms. Most folks I know go to church and observe hunting season.

Saudi Arabia and North Korea are the biggest offenders in the world. We sure don’t need that kind of hostile attitude here in the USA.

    Nip it.

Turn the other cheek, is a beautiful thing. Forgiveness is even better. It’s about time we shield the cheek and ask forgiveness, after the fact.

There’s probably a lot of cross-over with the 35-40% who self-identify as “conservative”.

Simply put: they ain’t, they’re either giving what they think is the socially acceptable answer, or they’re going by their own internal definition that has nothing to do with any sort of objective standard.

I find it amusing that people who profess to be Christians are confused by the hatred coming from the lost denizens of the world. The New Testament is full of verses about Christians getting their heads cut off, Christians being crucified, and imprisoned for preaching Jesus Crucified. The end times are at the threshold, and the people are confused by the very signs the Bible teaches us to recognize.

If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also. 21 But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. 22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. 23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

    Roscoe,

True enough, that is pretty much what I’ve maintained for years. However, that said, even with say 40% who are truly Christian conservative, that translates to roughly 140 million Christians!

Where are they? Are we really THAT passive?

If we are, then I imagine that is why ‘He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them.’ as mentioned in Revelation.

The picture in a workplace I agree. You as a worker should not put a symbol on the wall, of any kind. Even NASCAR. You do not own the space. Warning yes but fired no.

The Tee shirt is BS. It is your Tee Shirt and you should be able to print anything you want on it.
