Newsweek Cover 8 Months Ago -
The Daily Beast
Why does Paul Ryan scare the president so much? Because Obama has broken his promises, and it’s clear that the GOP ticket’s path to prosperity is our only hope.

Sounds like “Newsweak” is concerned finally, about it’s declining value and lack of credibility in the propaganda world of modern news.
Stranded in Sonoma
Oh my. Oh my. Just the fact that a writer was allowed to print, “Ask yourself how the liberal media would have behaved if George W. Bush had used drones this way” speaks volumes about the growing realization of media bias and the waning influence of the old guard media.
A well written and accurate article. Frankly I’m surprised it’s from the DB – they’re normally on my ignore list.
They have it right, president loser has to go. I think bill and hill would like to see his sorry ass gone, just to give Hillary a chance in 2016. I might even subscribe to this rag… Nah.
Is this from the Onion News Network???
This can’t be real.
I guess Newsweek finally realized that obama is not God. Great article by Niall Ferguson. The guy is brilliant.
Carlos The Jackal
DemocRATS leaving the sinking ship.
So much for “Party Loyalty”, Jawohl?
Xavier — It’s from Niall Ferguson. The guy is ultra-connected among the elite of the West. He’s also one of the most interesting thinker alive, as per thing related to money and geopolitics.
The Daily Beast & Newsweek would print almost anything from F. N.
Niall Ferguson is so prestigious that he can afford to write almost everything he thinks about and deems relevant — without considering the PC-sensitivity of the sterilized and asepticized MSM.
Ironically, the core Obamacare concept of the “individual mandate” (requiring all Americans to buy insurance or face a fine) was something the president himself had opposed when vying with Hillary Clinton for the Democratic nomination. A much more accurate term would be “Pelosicare,” since it was she who really forced the bill through Congress.
Thanks, Omega Male or whoever you are by now.
I’ve added NF to my Twitter feed and he appears to be writing for DB regularly so I’ll try to keep up with him there. Odd I’ve never heard of him before.
This is more than just an Obama-bashing article from the second biggest news rag in the country.
Editor Tina Brown is known for her edgy, controversial cover stories, and this is no exception.
Now that Newsweek is essentially throwing Obama under the bus, all bets are off.
Watch for other LSM outlets to start piling on.
They can smell blood in the water.
Ferguson wrote a fantastic documentary on MONEY.
Available in full on YouTube :
He’s not your leftist intellectual. He’s the real deal.
Honest as Ayn Rand. Connected to the actual as Milton Friedman.
@ norman einstein
You can be right. But I strongly doubt it. Methinks it’s more like Ferguson writing on his own.
Ferguson also wrote the official biography of the Rothschild family, and is a fixture in the Bilderberg meetings.
Best Newsweek cover EVAH!
He is betting his reputation as a forecaster on the federalization of Europe : a coming fiscal union, with a pan-European Treasury Department, ran by the Germans, basically. He’s quite adamant that no country will exit the eurozone, and that when the system will crash, it will reboot as the United States of Europe, with the new Euro pegged to gold.
“Put a fork in him”.
@Monkey Face, “Methinks it’s more like Ferguson writing on his own.”
Obviously, he wrote the article, but Brown is the editor-in-chief.
I don’t care what kind of cred Ferguson has.
It was Brown’s decision to make this the cover story.
I don’t trust em for one minute. I think it is just to rile up obmama’s supporters. They want the Conservatives to be complacent.
Addressing the title, He’s far from mutha fxxcking done. This race is going one of two ways. The electoral college is going to do us in, or the poles are super whacked and he will even lose Cali. in a land slide. I’m in Northern Cali., he couldn’t get elected for Dawg Catcher in my community or the central valley. Enthusiasm is down, liberals typically don’t vote.
Fair point norman.
Rats fleeing a sinking ship.
Zero is done.
Hold the line.
“or the poles are super whacked ”
What do you have against the Polish people, Grizz?
Sorry folks, but Obama is still leading in the polls.
He looks every inch the punk in that pic.
Nada, spent some time in the Cheese Head State, heard a whole lot of hilarious Polish jokes. Normally delivered by a Pole.
who did ferguson vote for in 2008?
and if he did, he was an idiot then.
who cares who he hangs around. i trust a blue collar plumber’s opinion more than a degreed printed prick who swayed public opinion four years ago.
steve is right. the rats are jumping ship.
Nope, he was a special advisor to McCain.
then he definitely voted for obama.
Drudge has this up as his lede, and you should see all the Comments!
Lib heads are exploding like cheap Chinese toilets!
FreeMan - Sorry Sarah
Don’t fall for it, I do not trust any of them.
So now they want to switch sides? I don’t think so.
“Don’t fall for it, I do not trust any of them.”
Whom don’t you trust?
eehhh, for the first time in my life, i’ proud of my newsweek?
Friend of the family
Ferguson wrote a book called Civilization: The West and the Rest, and it was on the “New Books” shelf over at the local library. It was also the first book I grabbed back in February to commence the start of my journey through the annals of history. I’ll be damned. In it, he makes it quite clear with tons of substantiated evidence and documented writings of how Europe and eventually Great Britain and the US took the ball from those who started the game. Of all that is negatively said about evil the capitalism and imperialism perpetrated by the West, the truth is through centuries of European commercialism, mercantilism, reformations of church and government, and scientific innovation along with agricultural advances, the rest of the world literally remained dormant and stubbornly resistant to change. The Russians had their chance and blew it with their Czar attitude, so did the Chinese more interested in buzzing on opium. Sure, there was plenty of neighborly aggression on the European continent, with new wars popping up on a regular basis for hundreds and hundreds of years, but hey, it don’t come easy. Niall explains it well and they can all go to hell!
@Norman Einstein–It looks like some more internal polls are getting leaked. Look for Ulsterman to say WH Insider, or more likely WS Insider, had something to do with Ferguson’s devastating slam. The MSM is going to cover this up with wall-to-wall Todd Akin next week, but they’re hopeless. The fix is in, and that faint rumble way upstream is the Preference Cascade.
August 20th, 2012
I’m on the same page as RWF and Freeman…I don’t trust ANYBODY in the press or media!
@Bad Brad — I’m in Northern California too and unfortunately, my county would vote for the democrat jackass, literally!, rather than a conservative. We also have lots of illegals here. And you can bet the demmorhoids will have them registered and ready to go by election day.
Look at the following two maps.
In the first one, the map on the left shows how CA voted for Obama in 2008. In the second, the map on the right shows how CA voted for Prop 8. I’m hoping for the second map in November. But I know that LaLa Land will vote overwhelmingly for Obama so he’ll win CA easy.
I was hoping you would chime in. It’s like we live in different countries. That’s accurate but depressing input you have provided. Cali really needs to be split at King City. I think we could win that battle.
I’ve heard that California has cut dramatically her food production recently – in the name of ecology or something. Is that true?
@66chevelle, it wouldn’t surprise me either if WHI or WSI were behind this.
I know WHI said that they had some irons in the fire to shake things up, so it will be interesting to see how this goes.
The LSM will probably make a lot of noise about Akin’s clumsy remarks, but I think people are bored to death with that stuff now.
And I hope you’re right that the rumble upstream IS the beginning of a HUGE Preference Cascade.
That’s gonna be somethin’ to see!
i am in southern california more conservative than bay area. on local level, idiots that ban plastic bags etc. and put up rainbow flags to pacify the few.
but more people coming out against obama.
very interesting to witness.
reddecaesari, you , me, stranded, Mary, and a few others that I can’t remember right now need to keep talking. In my little world, he loses feaken big. But the gerrymandered electoral college could do us in. I’m getting opinions from cops, fire fighters, teachers etc. They are done. It will be more than interesting.
Marin is usually like Sonoma, but I think I detect a hint of ‘strangled/stunned silence’ around here. The Obama bumper stickers have diminished, and the Republican booth at the County Fair reported LOTS of positive traffic.
Marin will still go Dem, but something feels different.
The CA government let the central valley (a major farming area) go dry a couple years back because sending the water down from the bay area (or thereabouts) was endangering a wee subspecies of fish. It killed a lot of crops and jobs. Since then we’ve had a couple of really good rainy seasons so there may be some farm recovery but I can’t be certain. I am writing from my memory, although I would normally get you more accurate details but right now I am feeling lazy.
I am in the Los Angeles area. I have seen a handful of Obama stickers and only a couple Romney stickers around. I may put one on to encourage friends and get my windshield bashed in. What happened in California over the last 10-15 years from what I can tell is conservatives have been bleeding out to lower cost-of-living/more conservative states, and during the housing boom, all the a-holes who ruined the big cities bought property in the conservative burbs. Now they are ruining formerly conservative cities like mine with their sucky voting habits. I don’t know how much longer I can stand it. I dream of moving north, or east to Arizona, if this trend continues.
P.S. Newsweek scores a point. If more of the mainstream media moves this direction, it will give wafflers who make all their decisions based on what the media says is cool the go-ahead to NOT vote for Obama, and it will be beautiful!
To all cali’s,
Mary, Think about this, Gas prices, and they are just starting with the last refinery explosion. Not his fault, but OOPs. They will continue to climb. Word is it was Paul Ryan sabotaging the place. Good for him. Even though my wallet hurts.
“I’ve heard that California has cut dramatically her food production recently – in the name of ecology or something. Is that true?”
Not true. Our farmers are Free Market Capitalist Assholes. God Bless them.
To piggyback on what Name Redacted said, I’ve heard another stake on the Central Valley farmland decimation (sorry–this post will be long.)
You need to put this together with the multi-billion-dollar High Speed Rail abomination, which was recently voted through by the legislature (even though CA is broke six ways to Sunday).
Compelling, and totally plausible, scenario:
(1) Agenda 21 ultimately plans to herd everyone along transportation corridors, and get them off the land. This dovetails nicely with:
(2) High Speed Rail is proposed, but the land where the first sections of the HSR will be–in the food-producing Central Valley–is worth a lot, due to rich farmland!
(3) water to the Central Valley farmlands is turned off (with the excuse that we have to “save” the Delta smelt)
(4) farmland dries up and becomes virtually worthless; farmers go belly-up financially
(“…Costing at least $4.15 billion, the [first] segment would run between Borden and Corcoran with stations in Fresno and Hanford, which are located in an area of the state hit so hard by the recession and declines in agriculture that it has been dubbed the New Appalachia.” from L.A.Now, 12/2/10)
(5) formerly valuable farmland is now dust bowl–”right of way” for High Speed rail is available for a song
(6) as soon as right of way is secured, and the HSR is underway, the water can be turned on again–and the once-again productive and rich farmland alongside the High Speed Rail corridor can now be sold to government-connected Agribusiness. Family farms are history.
When I heard all that, my brain said “Bingo”.
“take”, not “stake”–sorry.
I din’t recognize the preezy on the cover without his halo. What on earth’s goin’ on?? What happened to his halo??
thanks for your analysis. my sister/brother in law got out of dodge last year for florida. but i refuse to leave my birthplace without a fight.
san diego is still fairly conservative but unions still have a stronghold on politics.
carpe deim sister!
Mary Jane Anklestraps
Awesome, if they’re serious.
So why hasn’t Biden been on the cover all these weeks? Are they lacking naturally re-re pics of Joey?
Because I know where Newsweek can get some…
