I remember this. It’s from back when Walt was alive, Disney was relevant, stories had a “moral” and Cali was conservative.

Two thank-you’s in a row… you’re doing great so far tonight, Mr. Hat.

Thank you BFH for that glimpse into America’s past. The “Wonderful World of Disney” has drifted off course from Walt’s vision when he created it. That grasshopper had more common sense than the ‘Dregs of Humanity’ that populate OWS.

I loved watching these when I was a kid. Still better than anything my grandkids watch now.

Walt Disney was a great man. He took some of the pain out of daily living, and made a lot of us smile and laugh. Every kid’s dream was going to Disney Land. No body I knew ever said a bad word about that man, just lots of admiration and respect.

Back then you didn’t have to worry about mind corruption from liberal indoctrination like you do today. I remember watching lots of Disney in grade school.

Now schools are an environment that is hostile to children.

that name said Finally less than (symbol) 100(degree symbol) at last. guessing the symbols jammed up the gears of the posting machine.
Finally by itself sounds stupid so now I have to change my name.
Thanks for the fun video anyhow. Life was a lot better than we ever realized.

Walt Disney edited this down severely. In the original version, the grasshopper whined to the army ants and blamed the Queen for his poverty. He convinced the army ants to forcibly redistribute the worker ants’ wealth in perpetuity to himself and all the other lazy, able-bodied insects of the forest, because that would be fair.

Disney cut out that particular plotline when advisers told him it was too absurd and insulting for audiences to contemplate, even in the setting of a child’s fable.

@Boobie – So true! This cartoon used to be on TV all the time when I was a kid. The message was plain and simple and my parents and grandparents reinforced it by making me bust my ass around the house. My kids have learned that too. Jeese Louise I haven’t thought about the Mickey Mouse Show in decades. And my impure thoughts about Annette Funicello.

Great catch BFH – I forgot all about this. Must be gettin’ old or sumpthin’.

    A multi-metaphor. Beautiful, Mr. Hat.
The thing is, this cartono had a huge effect on me when I saw it in the 50′s. It was always in the back of my mind as I grew up a guitar playing fool (while everyone else was getting their lives in order.) But the Occutards DO believe this.
Don’t you think it’s ironic that the starving musician actually finds a place in the ant society?

Once you finish laughing at Bill “Jackoff in a Box” Maher, back up a couple frames and check out the “Blackface” balloon. Apparently even in 1932 Hollywood writers and animators were racist progtard perverts!!!

I found this on a blog.

THE MODERN VERSION OF THE GRASSHOPPER AND THE ANTS

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long, building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC, PBS, CNN,and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food. America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing,’It’s Not Easy Being Green…’

Occupy the Anthill stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news stations film the SEIU group singing, We shall overcome.

Then Rev. Jeremiah Wright has the group kneel down to pray for the grasshopper’s sake, while he damns the ants.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush 43, President Bush 41, President Reagan,Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight..

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back of the grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends finishing up the last bits of the ant’s food while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackled, once prosperous and peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.

    MORAL OF THE STORY:

Be careful how you vote in 2012.
