In 11 days, we could lose progressive hero Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat—and with it, any hope for passing major progressive legislation this year.
A new poll Tuesday showed Democrat Martha Coakley’s lead in the special election to succeed Kennedy is at the edge of the margin of error, and the non-partisan Cook Political Report now says it’s very competitive.1 And today, some of the people behind the infamous Swift Boat and racist Willie Horton ads are spending $400,000 on a new attack ad. Republican Scott Brown and his extreme right-wing supporters are significantly outspending Coakley on TV.2
A Republican victory here would be a catastrophe—Democrats would lose their 60th vote in the Senate, health care could die, and the Republicans could block pretty much anything they want.
Ummm. Not that this is the focus of their letter, but, WHAT WAS RACIST ABOUT THE WILLIE HORTON AD? Do these morons EVER change their mantra when it has absolutely been proven false? The Bush ad NEVER showed Horton – EVER! Michael Moore recut the commercial and put Willie Horton into it in his “documentary.” Geesus. A -holes.
Furthermore, even if they did show Horton, how would that be racist? He was let out on furlough by Dukakis and he MURDERED SOMEONE!!!!!!!! How is stating a fact racist? Dukakis was crap on crime. Point that out, you’re racist. It’s up to you to find a white guy that killed someone while on the liberal “weekend furlough plan” for dangerous criminals. Otherwise, you can’t report it. Moron.org
And don’t get me started on this Kennedy HERO crapola. How heroic is it to pretty much burp and fart as you vote left over and over again? Couldn’t ANY drunk murderer pretty much do that? I think Willie Horton could have filled Kennedy’s seat heroically. (Especially if Kennedy went to jail, like he deserved to, if you get my meaning.)

As Grayscape states, what was the egregiousness of the swift boat ads when weighed against the Rathergate incident?

I have friends here in Oregon that ARE some of those infamous SwiftBoat sailors. They still hold kerry in the highest esteem. As a matter of fact, the Army Spec. Ops person he “rescued” lives here in my town. We don’t see him at any of the Veteran functions….he keeps to himself.

Tom Mo: This intellectual laziness works in our favor. A liberal in the wonderful documentary “Indoctrinate U” says he hates the domination of leftist views on American campuses because it makes lefties lazy. I remember those Willie Horton ads. Not only was he not shown in them, but the visual was of ALL WHITE prisoners going through a revolving door. The convicts looked like they were from a Brinks Home Security commercial for Christ’s sake.
