What I’d like to say to this person who pretends to care about women:

Hey, genius, you know why there is a statistical minority of non-white women in this vid? Because it’s representative of real life in the US! They are referred to as “minority” for a reason.

Now about this video. I thought it was cool! I actually didn’t watch ANY Olympics, and even had I done, I likely wouldn’t have watched any of the events featured in this vid. However, I thought it was a nice tribute, and even it was thrilling at some points. For example the first high bar scene, with the girl in green, I found myself holding my breath fearing she wouldn’t clear the bar. And the arse slapping took me by surprise only because I’d never seen women do it before–so I guess it’s just an athlete thing?

And guess what else? If those women didn’t want to dress like that, they could have backed out of the sport long ago. Maybe you could stop speaking for millions of women who hold a diverse–you like that word I thought–range of perceptions and opinions that don’t fall obediently into place under your fascist umbrella.

And have you ever considered that TV plays what sells? It’s not *just* that T & A sells, but more so that beauty does. Who would watch if it were filled with a bunch of fat, un-toned bodies making failed attempts to punch each other out? Maybe you prefer an entire vid of Saudi girls trying to poke opponents’ eyes out?

They are in top physical condition and have put the time and effort in to get where the are at. A statement like what Robert has made leads me to believe he takes issue with female athletic dress from sport that range from Gymnastics to Beach Volley Ball. Those women did not choose what they were going to wear. I think comments like this detract from their achievements. I’m not sure I watched the same video she did. I saw power, determination, achievement, confidence, and joy. I saw women celebrating moments they devoted years of their lives to accomplish. It’s hard to show an athlete, male or female, performing and not show their butts. If you show a woman clearing a high jump bar, her ass will go along with the rest of her body. And if you’re a real athlete, male or female, your body will be in outstanding condition and beautiful. This woman must be a real loser, eaten up with envy and decrying what she will never have.

Ok, as a heterosexual woman, I think it’s a great video of strong women doing amazing things! Yes, some of those women are wearing scanty outfits and have beautiful bodies – duh, that’s what goes with being an athlete in those particular sports! Those women are buxom bimbos, they are ATTRACTIVE FEMALE ATHLETES, with muscles and ambition and drive. I will agree that the music sucked. Other than that, that woman-hater needs to get her own issues checked out, how sad that she feels so threatened by the strength and beauty of these athletes!
