Lightning Kills 13 Outside Mosque in Bangladesh
At least 13 devotees have been killed by lightning outside a mosque in northeastern Bangladesh.
Local police chief Bayes Ahmed says 20 other people were injured by the lightning late Friday in Sylhet district. The victims were struck by the lightning as they were exiting the mosque following special prayers tied to the holy month of Ramadan.
Ahmed said Saturday that some of those who were killed died at the scene, while others died on the way to the hospital. He said the imam who led the prayers was among the dead.

How do I feel about this? I’d say it’s a good start. I’d say that G-d killed 13 hardcore fanatics and injured the 20 “moderate” Satan worshippers as a lesson in bitch-slapping.

How are all these comments any different from the stupid sh*t they say about us–especially when we experience our own tragedies?
I’m not supporting their Muslim beliefs, but not knowing anything about any of them, it’s not exactly right to assume none of them had anything in their hearts hidden that they feared exposing.
I get that “being nicer” isn’t a real strategy and I don’t support any relativist nonsense, so I’m not into the “that’s their culture” crap that dictates we must refrain from criticism. And I don’t necessarily think it’s so awful to mock them, even though they are dead. But damn–as far as I can tell most of them were just ordinary people like us.
I’m not torn up about this, but I don’t feel the need to celebrate it, either.

FotF, sorry to be so quick, have to hurry. First, thanks for the visit. Second, I made my second comment specifically because I know all about “psychological escapes”–I think that’s the phrase someone used–and am not really bothered by them. In fact THOSE imho are indeed deserved for, as again someone else mentioned, the shit they do to us. Plus I like the way Americans use humor to lash back at enemies.
It’s just kinda uncool *I* think to be glad lowly individual people we know nothing about are dead or suffered or whatever. I’m not talking about people we know considered horrific crimes, etc. But as I say that’s just my opinion.

GS–”Probably”? I just don’t feel like mocking the dead based on “probably.” I don’t know how much they bought into the BS, who would like to get away, etc. I had to get away from something once, maybe that’s why I’m not in a big hurry to condemn them when I don’t know what their real motives were.

Lets look for the good in the incident.
I image there are 15-20 women there that won’t be beaten tonight, possibly another 50-70 child brides that may not have to marry an elderly man. Maybe their mothers won’t mutilate their genitals and maybe move them to a non-muslim area to be raised as normal non-muslim children who get to go to school. Ah, the possibilities these men dying, have created.
I assume they were all men, because most woman are not allowed to got to the mosque.
