I would say that’s a dad who doesn’t give a shit if his kid breaks his neck or gets hit by a car.

Too fast for a little kid.

    No roll bar.

    Not street legal.

Kids get killed all the time riding the little four wheelers their ignorant parents buy for them.

Make damn sure it passes all safety tests before you expose a child to something that could end their life.

It’s illegal! And a form of child abuse.

Spoken like an idiot who will have to bury a child who could have lived a full life.

I’ve raised two soldiers and a police officer and eight grandchildren.
Rolled three cars. Crashed two motorcycles. Lost many friends to stupidity.

Tears and prayers won’t bring them back.

What the hell is the helmet for? If the kid flips over it’s almost a sure thing he’ll brake his neck.

Where’s the fucking roll bar dad? Don’t care enough about junior to bolt one on to his new deathtrap?

    Gee, what a great dad.

Jim — When I saw those palm trees in the background, I said, Uh-oh. Somebody’s gonna “nanny” that father/son combo real soon.

I confess, I had the same reaction as “Mystery,” while at the same time admiring the time the father and son spent together, the son getting a look into how things “work,” and the fact that he wasn’t plopped in front of the tube or a video game.

I did get a tad queasy wondering if someone was at the end of that neighborhood street looking out for cars. The dirt track is a better option, but I do agree with the roll bar, stat.

Good for you dad. Let kids be kids.

Father and son. Father and son. Father and son.

Pretty sure that kid won’t grow up queer.

They can add a roll bar and they can widen the track some for cornering safety and the rubber tires lower the center of gravity.

Yeah, some dads get carried away, but the effort is worth more than the lack of it.

As long as dad’s ego doesn’t overtake the kid’s welfare, I say more power to him. Mom can participate or she can bake brownies shaped like Goodyears, but it’d be good for her to get behind the effort here.

Does the SOAP BOX DERBY still exist now that Chevrolet is essentially defunct?

Now, I’m thinking about the kid’s helmet. Wonder if dad thought of installing a NASCAR-like communication device in it. A low-cost walkie-talkie could be disassembled and reassembled into the helmet. As long as there are no other distractions on the track . . .

None of my cars have ever had a roll bar. I was walking down the street one day minding my own business, when I slid on ice and hit the back of my head. I wasn’t wearing a helmet either. At least he was wearing a helmet and having the time of his life! I’m sure that kid will be just fine with a hobby to keep him out of trouble.

It’s predicatble and typical to criticize a real father actually behaving like a real father. Notice how the dad in this video doesn’t come off like an incompetent fool. The liberal progressive commie a-holes hate that kind of thing because they are afraid of it. Hats off to this father for being there for his son. That’s what fathers and sons should do. My dad taught me to spit, scratch, belch, fart, and be a man and I will be forever grateful to him for it. And no I don’t want to talk about hurting someone’s sissified feelings with my post. Get over it! God bless my Dad and all real fathers everywhere. It’s time our nation reclaims manhood. Let’s start with dumping that lame-ass metro-sexual excuse for a leader in the white house this November!

This kid will grow up to race cars, build cars or something else productive. Really cool.

I understand people’s concern about the little tike’s safety but, come on. This is just cool. And the dad obviously cares about his kid.

Why do so many think you have to coddle our kids and put them in a plastic bubble so they don’t get a scratch?

50 years ago, my father used to build me all kinds of stuff to play in and with. All out of wood. Probably dangerous, definitely FUN! He built an “airplane” which was just a thin cart with four wheels and some wings and a tail to make it look like a plane. I “flew” that plane around all summer. Got some splinters, scratches, bumps, and bruises. I survived. And I wasn’t wearing a helmet.

Oh, and we all drank water out of the hose.

This kid will probably be more proficient behind the wheel of a real car at 10 years old than are most of the drivers on the road today. And I’m including myself in that category — someone who has been driving for 40 years.

He’s learning to drive as he learns simple human coordination. He was helping dad with ratchets, sockets, and screwdrivers as well. By the time he applies for his driver license, he’ll put the instructors and testers to shame.

It’s the same with kids that learn firearm safety at an early age. They grow up to be responsible with guns.

I agree that kids should not be schooled by television. But I think that using a five year old kid as a guinea pig in an experimental vehicle that has no added safety features to compensate for the speed modifications is a bit selfish and cruel.
If the guy can afford a Mercedes and a $45,000 dynometer machine, he could afford to build a vehicle that might be safer for a tiny tot to operate.

My kids have a hell of a lot of fun and they all like to build stuff. They are completely content and are above average in engineering knowledge. I’ve designed and built two go-carts, both with two roll bars and a dead-man’s switch, safety harness and side nets. They are older than this child though.

Personally, I think the speed limit for a five year old should be about five miles per hour- and not on a public street. But who wants to listen to sound doctrine in these final days?

Great video. Good evidence in a court of law too though. I’d be careful.
