Audacious Pronouncements
This is from the editor of Red State, who I’m going to consider calling Vegetative State from this point on.
RS- Priorities USA was damaging itself and Barack Obama over its mind numbingly insane ad painting Mitt Romney as a killer.
Then the Romney campaign decided to sabotage itself with a mind numbingly bit of spin that may mark the day the Romney campaign died.
Defending Romney and combatting the ad, Romney spokesman Andrea Saul . . . let’s go to the quotes
“To that point, if people had been in Massachusetts, under Governor Romney’s health care plan, they would have had health care,” Andrea Saul, Romney’s campaign press secretary, said during an appearance on Fox News. “There are a lot of people losing their jobs and losing their health care in President [Barack] Obama’s economy.”
!snip!
Ya, because when an ex-John McCain campaign staffer makes a less than earth-shattering RINO remark I’m ready to abandon Romney in favor of Obama.
Get a hold of yourself, Panick Panickson. I think your statement, that this can mark the day Romney died, is more damaging than Saul’s.
I think if Romney fails to gain traction one could make a reasonable argument that excessive pillow biting by elite right-wing bloggers contributed to the inertia.
See Lolo Jones’ remarks about the NY Times to get where I’m coming from.

Erickson’s a dolt. And he works for CNN with a bunch of other dolts. But not everyone at redstate is worthless:

“Vegetative State” -exactly!
I wish people would THINK before they speak.
Romney does not believe the Federal government should be in the role of controlling heath care, but it is states’ rights.

Erick Erickson has had many, many wince inducing moments.
And someone you all know once asked me to back off on Erickson because they “worked for him” and it wouldn’t be good for their “career.”
See how easy it is for people to balk on principle when it feathers their own bed?
I’m ashamed that I did back off. Like Adam Smith, “I sacrificed my personal integrity.” lol.

I’m not reading RedState. And I think Erickson looks like a pig.
But I also think Romney’s got 2 big problem:
1) On the Right: he’s not consolidating his base.
2) On the Center: he’s letting Obama define him.
– Romney’s strategy is failing to contest Obama’s attacks.
– Obama’s bleeding non-college white voters; yet Romney is FAILING to capitalize on this massive weakness of Obama.
– The Obama campaign counter-balances their weakness among white non-college voters by defining Romney as a tax-cheating, vulture-capitalist plutocrat.
– Rather than counter-punching by introducing himself to those disaffected swing voters, Team Romney keeps on attacking Obama. Dude: they ALREADY disliked Barack, but they still don’t trust you.
– Sign of FAILURE: Romney’s numbers in OHIO are sinking.

EE at RS is a bum. But I must respectfully disagree, bfh. This is huge. And part of a pattern.

“On the Center: he’s letting Obama define him.” Rubbish, Katechon.
The moderates/independents (assuning that’s who you mean by the center) are VERY QUICKLY picking up the scent of a rotted fish by smelling Obama’s pronouncements over the past couple of weeks. Many seem to be quite receptive to Romney in this atmosphere.
NO, they’re *not* becoming overnight Conservatives.
But I sense (including a bit of wishful thinking on my part, admittedly) the Romney machine being tentatively more and more aggressive and, in any case, constantly “speaking to” the center, as you call it. I trust it’s a matter of timing and style, and each of us has a different clock and fashion as far as that goes.
Were Romney *not* to start ratcheting it up over the next couple of weeks, I’d have to say he doesn’t know how to “close the deal.” BUT he’s a successful businessman, and THAT is the signature requirement of ANY businessman.

Two weeks in a campaign is a lifetime, let alone 3 months, and memes come and go and other memes suddenly seem tired and they backfire.
This is an organic process, and no one worth his shit would make a prognostication of a campaign being dead in early August based on this statement.
Erickson is being reckless.
He’s a big fart face.

It was a stupid and ignorant statement. If Romney’s whole defense of Romneycare is that it was a state issue, then obviously that didn’t apply to the ass wipe who didn’t notice his wife was dying until it was too late living in Ohio or wherever. It was a juvenile defense.
However, stupid, ignorant and juvenile seem to work on liberals. How far ahead are ‘moderates’, ‘independents’, undecideds and sundry dolts?

“Get a hold of yourself, Panick Panickson”
For a small-city-Georgia City Councilman, guy’s got a rather inflated opinion of himself. Delusions of adequacy, one might say.

So, Romneycare won’t cost him your vote. . . I guarantee it will cost him other votes and this twit’s flip response increased that number. If he’s smart he will finally come out publicly and admit that it was a mistake for him to sign it into law.

Sorry, but remember Obomney Care?
Romney may be less of a socialist than Obama, but in the end we will get to the same place.
Conservatives need to stop thinking that the Republican Party is a separate entity from the Democrat Party. Shades of gray at this point in history.
Time to take the red pill, my friends. Only then can we go forward.
