We had one such stupid person here on another thread, a supposed conservative, who repeats the left’s claims that McCarthy was an over-the-top, batshit crazy exaggerator who damaged the cause of the right. You know, just like Pamela Geller.

Fifty years from now, everyone will agree that Karl Rove committed treason by revealing the identity of CIA “spy” Valerie Plame, tea partiers shouted the N-word at a black congressman and Duke lacrosse players gang-raped a stripper.
Liberals tell whopping lies, and most conservatives can’t be bothered to learn history.
In the last few days, we’ve heard both George Will and Charles Krauthammer, otherwise intelligent people, repeating bogus Democratic talking points about how Joe McCarthy allegedly smeared innocents with false allegations.
These two, and many lesser lights, have invoked the standard liberal calumnies against McCarthy in order to ridicule Sen. Harry Reid for making a Birther-like accusation against Mitt Romney, saying that the “word is out” that Romney didn’t pay taxes for a decade.
This, it is claimed, is comparable to Sen. Joe McCarthy’s “famous speech” in 1950, in which he allegedly said he had a list of 205 communists at the State Department — but then he never produced that list!
No, the idea that McCarthy threw out unsubstantiated charges and switched numbers, from 57 to 205, were the wild-eyed allegations of McCarthy haters, which, on closer examination, turned out to be completely false, just like the accusations against Rove, the tea partiers and the Duke lacrosse players.
It was proved false at the time — not just decades later, when McCarthy was vindicated with a whoop when Soviet archives and cables were revealed to the world.

Sometimes you read something and a whole different topic formulates in your mind other than what the author intended. Ann Coulter has triggered the notion in me that we are battling the enemy on two fronts: liberalism and communism–a deadly combination. That was an early time in the Cold War years; America was still brisk and robust and scared shitless of a communist invasion or nuclear war. McCarthy’s diligence to rid our land of insurrection and revolutionary elements was just half the story. He knew what was coming, even as he stared at his empty liquor bottle in his hotel room. It was the youth some time later that followed the remainder and opened Pandora’s Box. The rest is history.

Progressives are not just stupid, they’re also duped into thinking that anyone who doesn’t agree with their warped wordview are the ones who are stupid. I’m tired of hearing up is down, black is white, right is wrong etc. And don’t you think that it’s stupid the way they blindly support anyone ie Stalin, Mao, Marx, Engels etc. who believe that man is the measure of all things which is a big stinking lie but they fall for it hook, line and sinker every time. I am a Christian first, proud American second and a conservative by God’s will and I will not fall for their lies any longer. If truth be told progs and liberals are the ones who are stupid because they actually believe the BS they’re indoctrinated into and their pride and arrogance will not allow them to have a contrary opinion to the the groupthink and groupspeak of their worldview. Pity! God, gave me a mind to think, I choose what is right and what is good. They can keep their lies, I had enough of it when I used to think like them. I am a proud refugee/escapee from a failed world view that produces nothing but death and destruction. After all their hero and mentor is the Devil, the father of lies ie Saul Alinsky. NOMOBAMA 2012!

McCarthy had to be destroyed because he committed an unforgivable offense. It wasn’t that he accused communists of being communists. No, it was that a rube from Wisconsin dared speak ill of persons of quality from the finest Northeastern families, who had attended the finest institutiions. One simply cannot be permitted to do that.
His mistake was being of the rabble. Had he been say, Robert F. Kennedy, and been hunting communists, all would be fine.

The FDR/Truman adminstration’s State Dept. was full of Communists. When discovered most resigned. McCarthy was taking on a powerful democratic machine and payed the price. The Russian “Verona Paper” proves this. Alpha Maser, Your right.
