She’s an awsome lady, and bfh is correct. The NYT does not support America, however, and I’m going to get ripped for this, the “you know’s” the “and likes” really turn me off. I’m tired of ghetto speak, I’m tired of lazy language.

ruble, Beets the hell out of Ebonics. What an impressive girl. Particularly infuriating when you stop and think that it was probably some fat bastard sitting behind a key board that has never competed in a damn thing judging a world class athlete.

Brad, you’re right, and I’m not taking away from her skills or her heart, because her heart is definetely it the right spot. She’s awesome. She repressented us with class and decorum. She left her heart on the track. I’m probably too snarky about the spoken work. Apologies to all who wish to rip me. I’m sure I’ve got it coming.

She’s not black enough, that’s why the NYT dissed her. What about that amazon dancing the hip hop ghetto gang-banger number on the tennis court the other day? What did the Times have to say about that? Wait. I’ll Google it and see what I can come up with. Go make a sandwich, I’ll be back.

Yep. I thought so. Read what this duck shit fellow name Christopher Clarey from the NYT does in the way of praises for the goliath tennis player:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2012/08/05/sports/olympics/serena-williams-beats-sharapova-for-olympic-gold-in-tennis.html

America, it’s getting harder for me to be patriotic in a land full of double standards. And like I said, Lolo ain’t got the right shade of pigmentation.

Doesn’t she know all that hard work, fighting through injury and accomplishment; she didn’t do that, someone else did that for her.

The next step in Lolo Jones’s maturing process is where she learns not to give a sewer rat’s shit about anything the New York Times says

It’s too bad she didn’t pull a John Cleese during the interview with the words “It was the NYTs” on the bottom of her shoe or something. That would have made the front page across America and made her disdain complete.

The Blaze is running an article saying she a 29 year old devout Christian and a virgin. They go onto say critics are speculating she lost because she was not having sex. I can’t make this shit up. No wonder they hate her.

Wow, my heart swelled listening to her as she teared up. What a wonderful woman! Something I think very important to take away from this regards something Lolo referenced towards the end: winning and losing.

In our society today children are being taught that “everyone is a winner” and while it’s sincerely awesome just to make it to the Olympics–that IS a big deal–some people DO lose. Handing out “Winner” or “1st place” ribbons to every child on a team for showing up is not what builds this kind of stamina and willingness to train 6 days a week for years…for a 12 second race.

OK, not everyone will have it in them to go for something like that–or even athletics. But we all have goals, children have dreams and while it’s true they won’t meet those dreams if they don’t get encouragement, they also will NEVER meet them if they are not guided to learn skills to handle defeat. A person can own defeat, turn it around to advantage themselves by looking for what in the situations they can learn from, and so on.

Lolo’s right–there are two extremes to what she went through, and that she chooses to see both and not just the negative is truly an indication of future growth and maturity. She knows she has to move on at some point, but has heart and isn’t afraid to admit it hurts. She’ll eventually stop worrying about the stupid NYT but in the meantime others will also learn from her experience.

She strikes me as having a really great balance within her. I applaud her dignity! :-)

Must have been tough for the NBC “reporter” to allow this young woman to criticize the NYT, the ideological sister of the network. In any event, I suspect the Times only has a few years to go what with Pinch paying himself that handsome annual salary and the continual losses that the Times suffers each year getter bigger and bigger. There are just so many assets the Times can sell or hock to keep going before the curtain finally comes down. Hell, maybe the Koch brothers are just waiting for the right price to turn this rag back into a newspaper.

@Bad Brad – thanks for the added background information on her. Makes me like her even more! Too bad there are so many morons out there that see her virginity as a detriment. Sheesh.

I play liberal advocate. If I were a liberal, I’d say this to Lolo….

Quit yer whining, go get a free condom from the village and have sex with some gold medal winners, male or female, then you’d feel like a winner….

Seriously though, I do think she would have been better off not saying anything about it at all. Her time would have been better spent congratulating her teammates who won. The NYT is like any other bully, once they see it’s getting to her, they’ll pour it on to make her out to be even worse…..
