Primetime is not good news for CNN lately. Amidst having its least watched month in primetime in two decades in May and the lowest rated month in total viewers in 10-years in April, CNN has now hit a 20-year all time primetime weekly low. The latest fall came during the week of July 30 to August 5, 2012.

Both primetime hosts Anderson Cooper and Piers Morgan were on full time duty that week, with no substitutes. The decline was among total viewers and the key 25-54 demo. During the week of July 30 to August 5, Piers Morgan Tonight at 9 PM averaged 314,000 viewers overall, with a mere 81,000 in the 25-54 demo, according to Nielsen. That average is the lowest week Morgan has had since he took over Larry King’s spot on January 17, 2011.

During the same time slot over on Fox News, Sean Hannity averaged 1,749,000 total viewers and 324,000 in the 25-54 demo. On MSNBC, The Rachel Maddow Show averaged 933,000 total viewers that week, with 271,000 in the key demo.

    I’m just impressed that that Madcow dude got almost a million viewers! The line in the sand is now a deep groove, spraypainted with flourescent orange marker paint! It is truly sad that a million people would choose to stand on the side of the mentally deformed and physically altered self made mutant of human nature. To stand on the side of the angry bull-dike while she mocks and blasphemes anything good or Holy, is to stand in defiance of God Himself.

    Well for years I heard it called the Clinton news network or Communist news network, so does it surprise anyone that folks are tied of watching the liberal spin drivel that most know is worthless?

    Come to think of it, when Lucifer rebelled against God, he convinced a full 1/3 of the angels who had actually been in God’s presence to stand and fall with him!

    “314,000 viewers overall, with a mere 81,000 in the 25-54 demo”

    314 – 81 = 233,000 wheelchairs were locked in front of the TV at nursing homes after the dinner service.

    They should be mindful of the Environment and turn that shit off.

    @Anonymous — There are so many static TVs around (banks, airports, etc.) that are tuned to CNN. I wonder if they’re allowed to count those? Because I sure wouldn’t. That’s a captive audience. At my bank, CNN is on but I don’t watch it. And NEVER at home. So, does this mean that if I go to the bank I help improve CNN’s numbers? That’s not right.

    @Stranded,
    The TV in the full waiting room at the car dealership is usually tuned to CNN or ABC. As soon as I hit that room, I change the channel as I politely ask, “Is it ok if we don’t watch this crap?” No one ever challenges me. (Many smile as if to say “thanks for doing that”)
    Then my problem becomes what to switch it to. FOX helps me out, sometimes it’s sports.

    Next time I go, I may try turning it off. It’ll be funny to see how people react.
