Hands down, Dark Side of the Moon! (Wish You Were Here)

Close seconds are Allman Bro’s, Bob Seger, anything Eagles, Credence, alot of Motown (Chi-Lites, Marvin Gaye, Spinners, 4 Tops, etc), Boston (I), REO, Pink Floyd from Meddle to The Wall, guys, I still have turntables and so many albums I had to build a shelf system to hold them all (last count was something over 900 classic rock and classical albums from Johnny Cash to Zep to Beethoven and Bach, and some bagpipe/ celtic types jams and everything and alsmost anything in between!

Went to a garage sale a few weeks back and bought an entire Johnny Cash collection, 28 albums, still sealed and wrapped in plastic, for $1 apiece (I about shit myself when she told me that)…my life is good!

C’mon, not one vote for anything by Lynyrd Skynyrd, no mention of anything Tommy Bolin, James Marshall Hendrix, or at the very least Ronnie Montrose’s self titled album. Are you kidding me, you would think that Pink Floyd was the only band in the world, hell I would bet that half the people who listen to them today have never even heard of Adam Heart Mother. Frank Zappa nailed it best in Don”t Eat That Yellow Snow by penning the phrase “Srickly Commercial”.

My second most played album would be Revolver by the Beatles. I’d put the album on the parents Hi-Fi and start bopping around the living room like a maniac. Until one day, while bopping to the tune “Got to Get You Into My Life” I stomped on a broken off toothpick that was imbedded in the shag carpet and it went all the way thru my foot! Swear to God, it’s the truth

Undaunted (this paragraph, on the other hand, is total bullshit)I hopped down the hallway to the kitchen where my parents and sisters were having lunch pointed to the toothpick in my foot and sang out “Got to get this out of my foot!” At which point everybody, especially my mother, burst into uproarious laughter. And that’s the moment I realized I had a real talent for song parody

OK, Jeckel, here’s another: Led Zeppelin–Zoso.

(Or however you write it in normal letters.)

I did go through a Bad Company phase at about age 13, and did move out of it although to this day I still love the title track. And whoever said Revolver, OK, yeah, that got some pretty heavy wear at my house.

I would have worn out Terrapin except my brother came in and took the disc away from me. I was so ballistic then but I can remember now how he just walked in silently, and there was an air of “You have got to be kidding me” about him. Quietly he took it and walked out, and I never saw it again.

    Albums listened to most:

    Floyd:

    WYWH
    Meddle
    Dark Side
    Atom Heart Mother

    Rush:

    Permanent Waves
    2112
    Signals

    Hendrix: Electric Ladyland

    Zepplin: 1 and 2

…but the most incredible album experience I’ve ever had was out in the desert all night under the stars smoking weed and listening to all Rush albums pre 1985.

“White punks on DOPE DOPE DOPE dope dope dope…”
    Heh heh.

But seriously, over a long, ever-changing time period my most played albums were The White Album, Abbey Road, Jesus Christ Superstar (the first original), Tommy, Aqualung, Stand Up, Thick As A Brick, Live At Leeds, DSOTMoon, Meddle, Wish You Were Here, Chicago 4, 5, & 7, Tarkus, Brain Salad Surgery, Blow By Blow (J. Beck), Eldorado (E.L.O.), Tales From Topographic Oceans, Relayer, Olias Of Sunhillow, Quadrophenia, Minstrel In The Gallery, and then old rock pretty much died and I got into Gordon Bok and dead white men.

Listened a lot while cruising, cars didn’t have record players but I remember the 8-Track tapes:

*Rosie & the Originals — Angel Baby

    *Jim Croche

    *Motown Lowrider shit

    *Jimi Hendrix experience

    *Creedence Clearwater

No way to tell which one got the most play, we played them all until they spooled out and jammed up the tape deck. Then we had to remove the deck, take the lid off, and pull the tape out with needle nose pliers. Cut off the bad part and splice the tape back together with nail polish. Tapes usually got traded if any good songs got spliced out.

    Ah, the memories!

    Irony

Even though Revolver was perhaps the least publicized of their albums, I had this feeling at the time that it was their best

Of course I also had a feeling once during that time that something was very wrong with my foot — but I never blamed Revolver for that

Charles Munch. “Gaité Parisienne” – Offenbach/Rosenthal.

Age 23 recovering from a nasty accident and decided to explore my mother’s eclectic record collection. Saw the flying skirts on the cover of that LP cover and played it. Came across the Infernal Galop from Orphée aux Enfers. Finally, a “classical” piece I recognized!
Wore the record out and bought a new copy.
This was my introduction to a lifelong love of classical music and a thirty-year love affair with opera.

I have close to three thousand so this is a hard choice. AC-DC Powerage has seen the most parties & is “Well Worn” hands down a superb party record that never lets ya down. A Trooper. Anything by Iron Maiden is second, (I have 300+ Iron Maiden LP’s.)
