When Being an American Meant Being an American
“Beat those commie bastards.”
These were the inspirational words of Herb Brooks, coach of the United States 1980 gold medal men’s ice hockey team, as he prepared his troop of young athletes to go into battle against the Soviet Union.
Beat those commie bastards.
Can you imagine an American coach saying such a thing at the 2012 London Olympics? Can you imagine USA men’s basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski — Coach K. — kneeling down in a huddle at mid-court during a pivotal game against China and telling Labron James, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, and the rest of his players, Beat those commie bastards?
Not very likely. If Coach K. uttered such a phrase (which would be out of character), you can bet it would draw quizzical looks from his players. What’s a commie bastard? The phrase might even offend some of his assistant coaches, who’ve grown up in a politically correct environment rooted in cultural pluralism (socialism).
America is a very different place from what it was in 1980, when a group of no-name college players captivated the hearts and minds of the nation and beat the USSR in one of the most important sporting events of the 20th century. Back in the early1980s, it was okay to feel good about your country. It was okay to cheer and wave the flag and publicly speak out against the evil of communism. The Cold War and the threat of impending nuclear annihilation had a way of bringing Americans together — Republicans and Democrats, Southerners and Northerners, New Englanders and Californians. (In 1984, Ronald Reagan won an amazing 49 states.)

Per Mike Eruzione, that comment was on a telegram that the team got from an old lady.

Political correctness is killing this country and it is being supported by the numb-minded liberal robots and democratic dipshits everywhere.

It is political correctness that we now have to fight against. But letting the liberal democrats take control of the educational systems of this country was a big ass mistake. Turning out generations of brainwashed, uninformed, idiots who are likely to vote for some socialist asshole like obama.

Oh, I wouldn’t say EVERYONE was on the same team in the ’80s. Remember when they sifted through Kremlim memorabilia and Fat Teddy Kennedy’s letter was revealed? You know, the one that pledged to help the Ruskies screw over Ronaldus Magnus.
Some things never change.

Being “politically correct” doesn’t have a thing to do with being correct or incorrect. There is no such thing as being politically “correct” in the traditional, logical, English language realm of the word “correct.”
Being “politically correct” only means that your ideologies line up with that of the progressive liberal left ideology. When someone screams “Oooh Oooh that isn’t politically correct” all it means is some mealy mouth whiny bitch is complaining that you just had a thought process that doesn’t line up with the progressive liberal left ideology.
The progressive liberal left can say whatever they want, some white limp-wristed suit can stand up and slur any race they want, any group they want, denigrate and patronize blacks, tell sexist jokes, and as long as they agree that partial-birth abortion is A-O-K and that guns should be banned, they get away with it and their offenses get swept under the rug because they belong to the right “club.”
The minute someone stands up and says the exact same thing yet believes abortion is wrong and that guns should remain legal, they might as well have murdered someone and shat on the corpse.
We can’t play along with the game of “political correct” because that is a one way street. If a non-liberal-progressive-left person, in other words a sane person, changes the way they talk and act in order to comply with “political correctness” they are agreeing to the one-sided terms of the game that they have no say in.
That can not fly, you are immediately giving control of your speech to an ideology that wants nothing less than our total destruction, even if they have to do it one piece at a time.
We should be polite, kind and civil. But in no way should be tiptoe around some make-believe mine-field called “political correctness.”

Exactly right.
I remember watching television and seeing the Berlin Wall being pulled down while people danced on top of it in celebration.
The day before they would have been shot dead for even getting near it.
I remember hearing/reading/watching stories about how people tried and died to escape communism. I spent one afternoon with a dear friend who told me the story of how he and a friend of his escaped from communist Romania. How his father was brought in afterward and interrogated and threatened because of him.
His father didn’t fear, he was old and he knew his son had escaped to freedom. He had nothing to lose.
When the wall fell, little did I know that losing the fear we held against Russia and communism would cause us to become the fat, lazy people we were always accused of being. (At least many of us that is.)
When there is no longer a common foe, then we begin bickering and infighting. We have been set up perfectly by socialists and communists. People have forgotten in less that 25 years the true horros of communism and fascism.
I (and many other) sat by while Bush allowed us to be set up to lose our freedoms. I was naive (for the record I sthink he was too).
Whatever happens in November will be God’s plan. I don’t worry, but I’m not necessarily looking forward to it.

We still say that phrase around our house, except now it refers to Obumbles/Reid/Pelosi and that gang of traitors.
