Ted Cruz: Americans are looking for leaders who aren’t going to Washington to be popular at cocktail parties

The Right Scoop

Surprisingly, CBS Evening News spent a few minutes interviewing Ted Cruz last night after his big win in Texas, and they spent a lot of that time talking about the Tea Party. It was a great interview and Cruz said a lot of great stuff, but my favorite line was when he was explaining what the American people are really looking for:

“But I think the American people are looking for leaders that AREN’T going to Washington to suddenly be popular at the cocktail parties. They’re looking for leaders to go to Washington to be public servants.”

Sorry Ted, we’re looking for people to represent our interests, not ‘leaders’.

Unfortunately I think once they are elected they are told to vote the party line or campaign funds will magically disappear the next election. Job security and self preservation trumps political will nearly every time.

Hey Ted, wanna be a “leader”? Tell all conservatives to stop paying income tax and for the red states to secede.
