Diogenes’ Middle Finger

Hedy Lamarr was an Austrian-born American actress. Max Reinhardt called her the “most beautiful woman in Europe” due to her “strikingly dark exotic looks”.

Mathematically talented, Lamarr came up with an early technique for spread spectrum communications and frequency hopping, necessary for wireless communication from the pre-computer age to the present day.

Ah shit. I guess I’m a typical male. Read the rest of it. That is amazing. I’ve never seen a superior brain wrapped in that pretty of a package. Most of the time they look not that good. I hope she had a happy life. But then I guess beauty is in the eye.

Thanks Chieftain, she’s an amazing story. Hopefully she recognized for other than the aesthetics.

Heddy Lamarr puts all of the current crop of politically correct, libtard, brain-dead, knuckle-dragging, actresses of today to shame.

They’ll say they idolize her now but I’ll bet if they had to audition against her, they’d hate her guts.

Imagine, if you can, some Hollywood actress today such as Hedy…

    LiLo?

As an opposing entry, may I suggest Barbara Peyton.

In 1941, she tried to get my legs to work. Unsuccessful with the left and the right ones, but the middle one enjoyed it tremendously.

    Cheeze-it…here comes Eleanor!

Technically, Wi-Fi in its various incarnations is *not* spread spectrum it;s wideband and it’s OFDM in newer versions g/n.

FDMA/FHSS and CDMA direct sequence SS are used by various 3G and other cellular standards though. Also, Heddy did it manually, i.e. her frequency hopping was not computer controlled so I don’t give her much credit for the “creation” of spread spectrum which uses a very fast hopping rate with matched filters. Not to put a bee in anyone’s bonnet though…

@Troy – you are correct regarding the CorelDraw.

I love this story! I always though Hedy Lamar was one of the most beautiful women ever and love seeing her in old movies. She’s in a class all her own.
