Democratic senators offer gun control amendment for cybersecurity bill
Democratic senators have offered an amendment to the cybersecurity bill that would limit the purchase of high capacity gun magazines for some consumers.
Shortly after the Cybersecurity Act gained Senate approval to proceed to filing proposed amendments and a vote next week, Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), a sponsor of the gun control amendment, came to the floor to defend the idea of implementing some “reasonable” gun control measures.
The amendment was sponsored by Democratic Sens. Frank Lautenberg (N.J.), Barbara Boxer (Calif.), Jack Reed (R.I.), Bob Menendez (N.J.), Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.), Schumer and Dianne Feinstein (Calif.). S.A. 2575 would make it illegal to transfer or possess large capacity feeding devices such as gun magazines, belts, feed stripes and drums of more than 10 rounds of ammunition with the exception of .22 caliber rim fire ammunition.
The amendment is identical to a separate bill sponsored by Lautenberg. Feinstein was the sponsor of the assault weapons ban, which expired in 2004.

Oh yeah, November. Guess the vote will have to do.

You can’t control the gun of a madman. And don’t expect him to surrender any weapons. There are thousands of laws on the books already that every single crazed murderer will completely ignore.
We have a right to defend ourselves against any kind of attack. The biggest threat right now are the assholes who want to take those rights away from us and turn us into unarmed victims.
Schumer can go Califoricate himself.

Hmm, .22 exemption. Yep, the same .22 kids’ toy. Just don’t tell that to the Israelis who used it very effectively – not just in their local wars but in counter-terrorism operations worldwide.

See, if you put the word “reasonable” in front of gun control terms, that means no one can disagree with you or else you’re being “unreasonable.”

@Crusty, exactly.
That is one of their manipulation tools.
They know many people would rather just “go along” than risk being accused of being “unreasonable” or stupid, or worse yet, un-PC or racist.
It’s part of their play-book.

Let them keep talking about it. Pushing gun control right before an election has NEVER worked favorably for Democrats. While S-choomer, Feinstein and Gillibrand are in democrat strongholds, their fellow Senators up for re-election are going to take one for the team in November.
Keep talking, guys.

Hey Schumer, if you personally come to my house, walk through the door and can take my gun out of my hands, then you can have it.

I’m not to worried about some bill Schumer wants to pass through the Senate. Even if it passes the Senate (All Dem Senators up for re-election will vote against it), Boehner will squash it when it reaches the House floor.
No worries.

What we need is responsible legislation control.
We’ve got to get back to the basics of law in a free society. If legislation would make a crime out of doing something that doesn’t directly harm a person or their property and can be proven in a court of law to have done so, then that legislation should not see the light of day.
We gotta get back to basics.

We already have enough laws that make it illegal to murder someone. Why doesn’t he just try to pass a law that will make all the criminals obey the law? That would fix everything, wouldn’t it Chuckie?
