Semi-Automatic Vehicles Killed 7630 Americans

Home - by - July 25, 2012 - 15:30 America/New_York - 29 Comments

I wrote a post that I never published because I didn’t want to have to debate with people who are fueled by emotion. Emotion is largely irrational.

The thrust of the post?

12 deaths are going to be the pivot point for the government to strip citizens of the right to protect themselves? Really?

Read on.

Real Revo

That’s how many Americans were killed by automobiles in the US during the first quarter of 2012. That is 910 more in the first three months of 2012 than in the first three months of 2011. This tragedy is another grim reminder that cars are the enablers of mass killers and that our nation pays an unacceptable price for our failure to keep cars out of the hands of dangerous people. U.S. traffic deaths jump 13.5 percent in 2012 NHTSA said the rate of traffic deaths per 100 million miles of vehicle travel increased substantially. For the first three months of 2012, the rate increased significantly to 1.10 fatalities per 100 million miles traveled, up from 0.98 fatalities per 100 million miles in the same period last year. NHTSA said it estimates 7,630 people died in vehicle crashes in the first three months, up from 6,720 in the first quarter of 2011. Cars kill 12 people in America every 10 hours, 24 hours a day, seven days a week. At what point will be ban semi-automatic assault automobiles? Why don’t the police just go on strike until the assault cars are banned? Do you realize that there is no federal licence required to own an automobile? There isn’t even a background check. People under the age of 18 are allowed to use automobiles unsupervised. Auto deaths are on the rise and yet the federal government refuses to implement common sense car control laws. For example, the federal government should immediately…

I can’t recall the year, but in Chicago, more people were killed with golf clubs than semi-automatic rifles … guess which was banned?

When the revolution comes, law abiding citizens will be easier to round up if we’re toting nine irons instead of rifles ;)

How about banning semi-illiterate Kenyan/Indonesian/British foreign nationals?

I know one who’s killed MILLIONS of jobs, MILLIONS of hopes & dreams, and now with semi-automatic (irregular) healthkare, wants to literally kill MILLIONS of PEOPLE! :-o

Surely we can’t allow Soros to keep one as a pet in this country, no matter how well-intended, given the amount of damage it has ALREADY done, & has publicly stated that he wishes STILL to do.

Do it for the children. Do it for America. Let us BAN, semi-illiterate Kenyan/Indonesian/British foreign nationals.

Frank Lautenberg just crapped his Depends in approval of this message…

We need to be on the right topic in the first place, and talking about guns is NOT it

Roughly 10K people are murdered each year with guns – an unfortunate, but fairly small number already when you consider there are 314 million people in the US and 2.5 million die each year.

Blacks however commit more then 50% of those homicides, and make up only 12% of the population!

About 1 in 31,500 people will die at the hands of a gun this year, but on average roughly 1 in 3,768 blacks will commit such a crime.

Address the culture creating THAT very real problem instead of chasing fictional boogiemen thru political rabitholes, otherwise nothing will ever change even if you did ban the purchase of all guns.

The Federal Government doesn’t care if cars kill people. If they did, they wouldn’t require fuel economy standards that can only be met by making smaller cars. Your chances of surviving a car accident improve if you’re in a big metal box instead of a small fiberglass one, but the environment is far more important than human lives, so it’s smaller cars for us. Steve is right. Gun laws are about disarming citizens, not saving lives.

Most drivers will rack up close to 1 million miles in a lifetime ∴ you have a 1/100 chance at horrifying death by evil auto! About 3X the chance you’ll be murdered by some ahole with a gun.

Right after the Aurora shooting, 14 people (illegals) died when the pickup truck carrying 23 occupants crashed. Hear any calls for controlling overloaded vehicles or illegal aliens?

I believe the real killers are the hybrid and electric cars. These have very high mileage and can practically run forever increasing the likelihood of a killing spree.

We should 1] Ban all high mileage cars and 2] Re-introduce gas-guzzling V8s to keep the number of deaths to a minimum. We should also 3] Force gas prices up so the number of miles driven goes down.

Well, one out of three ain’t bad.

Death toll on US highways clime. Could this be one of the reasons?
McALLEN, Texas – The overcrowded pickup truck packed with 24 illegals slammed into a tree and killed 14 undocumented immigrants in Texas lost control after reaching speeds of over 100mph.

In April, nine Mexican immigrants died near the border when the teenage driver of their van crashed after fleeing Border Patrol. There were 18 people in that minivan.

The crash scene is less than an hour’s drive from the site of the nation’s most deadly immigrant smuggling case, where 19 immigrants died in 2003 after being placed in a sweltering trailer.

What’s a semi-automatic vehicle anyway? Have to use the clutch for gears one and two and three, and then automatic for the rest of them?

One part of the Federal government has knowingly sold firearms to the drug cartels in Mexico, without the consent of that government AND now the same Federal government wants to sign a UN treaty with the intent of disarming its own citizens. This is one totally evil and corrupt government.

Hey, stop giving the Left any ideas.

BTW, @Stirrin the B.S., a semi-automatic vehicle is a car with cruise-control–automatic speed control; a fully-automatic vehicle would steer itself, too.

    Stirrin the B.S.: “What’s a semi-automatic vehicle anyway?”

Seems to me cars, whether manual or automatic, would be both technically be full-auto since you don’t need to pump the pedal to feed it gas and produce movement. They are both true “auto”mobiles.

A hot-air balloon might be considered an example of a semi-auto vehicle

If it comes between someone trying to cut me down in the theatre or this government trying to stab me in the back, then I say I would rather take my chances going to see Batman, the odds of surviving are greater.

It is more honest, and I can see it coming and react.
