Rebuttal To Mayor Bloomberg

Once again I find myself having to open a blog entry with this disclaimer: the opinions stated are solely those of Frank Borelli and do not in any way represent the opinions or thoughts of Cygnus Business Media, Officer.com, any of its employees, associates or representatives. Now let me dive into the meat of this blog: a rebuttal to Mayor Bloomberg and some stupid things he’s said.
We’ve all seen in the news how James Holmes planned, schemed, purchased and prepared before he went into a movie theater in Aurora, CO and killed twelve people, shooting another 58. We’ve all seen how people from both sides of the 2nd Amendment aisle (pro and anti) have jumped on the event to further their own agenda. What we’ve JUST seen, Monday, July 23rd, was the first time a politician in the national limelight called on police officers, nationwide, to neglect their duty and endanger lives to serve that politician’s anti-gun cause.
On the Piers Morgan Tonight show, NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg suggested that police officers across America go on strike and refuse to protect people until more gun control laws are enacted. The first time I read that my brain skipped a moment, I blinked and then I went back and read it again. NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg suggested that police officers across America go on strike and refuse to protect people until more gun control laws are enacted. Um, HUH?!
Mayor Bloomberg’s statement was: I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re gonna go on strike, we’re not gonna protect you unless you, the public, through your legislature, do what’s required to keep us safe.
Well, Mayor Bloomberg, let me give you a few reasons why, and in the process hopefully explain how your suggestion is not only stupid, but it’s insulting, AND it marks you as a politician who doesn’t care in the least about his constituency.

An elected civil servant calls upon those who protect and serve the public to forgo their duties. This isn’t just stupid, this is criminal. He has invited every killer, raper and robber into the homes of innocent Americans and given them a free pass to do as they please. Interesting the unintended results: as we can’t rely on elected servants to empower law enforcement, we MUST NOW GO GET A GUN TO PROTECT OURSELVES.

Only in the addled minds of Bloomberg and Obama can you surrender your way to victory, put out fires with gasoline, drink your way to sobriety, and spend your way out of bankruptcy.

Even insane killers will stop firing a weapon and try to take cover when shots are returned. One or two rounds dead center of a Kevlar vest will stun the shit out of anybody and likely drop them to the ground.
Are we to wait, unarmed and defenseless for 30 minutes until the police arrive?
Killers don’t take gun laws into consideration when they decide to take lives. The only chance we have is to fend for ourselves and the only reasonable way to do that in such a situation is to use a firearm.
Bloomberg doesn’t want the people to have any way of defending themselves when their lives are in grave danger.
Bloomberg is a threat to the safety of everybody in New York. He should be driven out of office and out of town on a rail, tarred and feathered!

And how does Booberg suggest taking guns from armed citizens?
With GUNS, of course!

Great letter.
Loonberg is just a typical dimocrat pol, doing what they do.
The really scary thing is that the people who voted for him probably think his “idea” makes sense.

I despise Bloomberg as much as I do Obummer, both are out of touch with reality. Glad a cop gave his opinion – a good one at that.

Well written. I also took that oath. I don’t know of anyone at the PD I work for that has even taken what he said seriously.
We do this job to help people, protect the innocent and keep the peace. We expect people will do what’s right and enforce laws when they don’t.
I will say that most of the admin in PD’s now look at the street cops as a way to generate revenue (tickets, tickets, tickets). I have taken a stand against it but I wonder how long those of us that do will last before we are forced out for those who are willing to rake the public for money…..

I took that oath too. Once as a Marine and several times at various law enforcement agencies. I am looking forward to the day when the NYPD takes Doomberg’s comments seriously and the entire force calls in sick for a week or so. It would be a hoot to watch that city full of elitist liberal idiots fall prey to the hoods and sickos.

muddjuice: You should move to Cali, and run for Sheriff in Sac county. They seem to be of the belief only the criminals should have guns and the rest of us should buy shirts with bull eyes on them. Fortunately I live in a county north of there and they are handing out concealed carry permits like there free.

There’s a reason why Bloomberg is weighing in on this issue, and it’s not because he feels morally compelled to do so. He is fabulously wealthy and is preparing for his position in the ruling class after the middle class is destroyed.
Confiscating guns is part and parcel of the process by which to accomplish Obumphuk’s fundamental transformation of America.
Bloomberg is an oligarch, and is of a class of people that would just as soon close the door of opportunity behind them. He is every bit as connected to Oblowme’s mission as is George Soros.
Hopefully there are enough Frank Borelli’s out there to thwart that mission. Great letter, keep up the fight.

My county is pretty cool. But you still have the state gov to deal with. I would leave but to much equity in the house and a commercial building to walk away from and there’s no buyers right now. Obama gets in again might not have any equity left anyway.

@Muddjuice–
I’d love to see someone principled and dedicated, like you, elected as Marin County Sheriff! Unfortunately, there’s not a snowball’s chance of that happening, at least in the foreseeable future.
Nice daydream, though.

@Pork Flavored Whiskey: “Even insane killers will stop firing a weapon and try to take cover when shots are returned. One or two rounds dead center of a Kevlar vest will stun the shit out of anybody and likely drop them to the ground.”
The North Hollywood bankrobbers took tens of hits each, some of which penetrated their body armor, and went right on fighting. One of the bank robbers in the Miami FBI shootout took about a dozen rounds and kept right on fighting. Unless a shot severs the spine, destroys the heart, or blows out the brain, people are quite capable of persisting in doing whatever it was they were doing.

@Roscoe–
A friend, who is a former police officer, confirmed that information. He was talking to a group of us about how real gun battles are nothing like what is portrayed in movies–that you may have to empty your gun at the target before they stop/go down. If that even does it. He wanted us to be prepared ahead of time as to the reality of what it takes.

@Roscoe P.
The N.Hollywood shooters were heavily drugged. Otherwise it is like getting hit with a baseball bat every time a bullet strikes armor. 9 mm is a bit light too, but you can sure feel it when you’re hit. Those guys did take cover several times. That was a unique situation. The cops were outgunned until they found the sporting goods store.
The coward in Aurora would have dropped like a rock after a couple hits. Long enough to walk up to him and put him out of commission. I don’t think he would have tried to pull that off in Texas or any other gun-packing state.
