    Still will cost him, now he has to buy a new tire. Drat.

    Wish I’d thought of that.

    He can just take the locked down tire and wheel with him and cut that off later.

    Though I’ve never had the boot applied, I would never have thought of that. Obviously, a smart guy.

    I’m guessing he’s done this more than once.

    @serfer62: “love Americans…make a problem, it’ll be solved”

    True enough, but that’s a European-style license plate.

    Maybe I’m reading too much into this, but I see the complete opposite of admiration.

    I see some liberal socialist, who gets a fine for parking where he should not have parked (or some other infraction) and instead of doing what most conservatives would do…pay the fine, he thinks he’s above that, and removes the boot (another infraction) because he’s entitled to park wherever he damn well feels and for as long as he damn well wants.

    He’s correcting the oppressive wrong that he has been subjected to.

    Good for him! Now pull the valve stem & deflate the tire. Now the boot removes easily. Remount & balance the tire, use it for your spare, and sell that damn boot for SCRAP!

    Well jack daniels (love the stuff by the way), I see a citizen sick of government overreach and the making of so many laws that during your day you are guilty of one of them, no matter how hard you try to not to be.

    When do we have enough laws?

    When your own politicians don’t follow the laws they have written why should you?

    Conservatism is about freedom and limited government not paying fines for the good of the state.

    Hey Bill,

    I thought the exact same thing while I was writing my comment. When do excessive laws demand that we respond with civil disobedience.

    As I said in my first sentence, I’m probably reading too much into this. I know the argument can be made either way.

    Way to go, asswipe. You’re not impressing anybody. The next time you get caught, and you WILL get caught (the car has a license plate and a VIN number, remember?), your car will be towed and impounded, you will be arrested for theft/destruction of city property and will be paying 100 times the fines and penalties you would have paid if you had just paid/contested your parking tickets like an adult.

    I think that photo is a setup.

    A boot has a thick metal disc over the wheel’s hub; the nuts are inaccessible. Matter of fact, I think I see one in the picture above, on the OTHER side of the booted wheel.

    Somebody just wanted to get on NOWAYGIRL.COM.

    I do see a note of German ingenuity: red flashers suspended from the trunk lid. Brilliant.

    The ones I’ve seen cover the lug nuts so you can’t take it off. You’ll pay for it when they won’t let you renew your registration or you try to get a new license. They will fine you and make you pay for the boot too.

    @Boobie

    If you take all the lug nuts off the curb wheels when you park, you can laugh at the metal hub cover when you return booted.

    They won’t boot on the street side.

    ;-)

    Removed one from my car and gave it to a homeless guy to sell for scrap! I had gotten several parking tickets because of nearby construction blocking access to MY designated parking area. They had been paid three days prior – but not entered into the City’s data bank! Went to court the following daya and got the fines cut in half. When asked about the Boot just gave them the “What Boot?”
    I thought they couldn’t be removed?” – parking agent agreed, as did the Judge!

    Things are not always as they seem!

    Always carry a plasma cutter, or pay your parking tickets. I avoid both by avoiding urban areas when I can help it. That’s where the hand of the state is the heaviest.
