Seen this before.
This elicits a personal tug-of-war. While I embrace the major overview of Ayn Rand, I do not agree with her atheist views.
Boy, do I miss the days of Carson when there was one (or maybe two) guest and the interview was intellectual.
I can’t imagine ever seeing such a truly intellectual political/social theorist on a major talk show today. It would be awesome to see her eat the likes of Letterman, Maher, Orpah alive!

So “Chief” Your a betting man? Your bet is that some magical invisible friend for adults exists? I’ll take that bet. ha As for Rand, why would it be a let down to find out she is not a believer in fairy tales, myths and mysticism? She is the mother of modern conservatism, and is still a major force in political and personnel philosophy. Read The Virtue of Selfishness and see if you agree. I leave that book out just to see the reaction it gets. Most people think being selfish is different that its true definition.

How sad for you.
Hitchens would have been destroyed in a debate with Rand, and he knew that. Too bad, I would have paid to see it. It’s easy to attack the dead, perhaps Brandon didn’t accept his offer? I doubt it was ever offered. I respect much of Hitchens’ work., but could not care less what he thought of Rand or the so called ‘cult’ he and others think she inspired.

Carson was better in NYC. But I do remember one night when Margaret Mead and Peter Ustinov were on. (Back in the day they’d fill up the couch and be on 105 minutes.) The three werwe having a great discussion when Johnny cut short the conversation to bring out Jacquie Sussann who talked at length about the difficulty of collecting a urine sample from her teacup poodle.
