Hey, the Indian DMV! Just goes to show that all the world over government employees are alike. How touching.

I hang up when I get a heavily accented customer service rep and keep redialing until I get someone who sounds like a native of Iowa.

I started doing that when a misunderstanding took me over an hour to clear up.

The customer service rep I spoke with recently who represented one of the discount travel groups was in New Delhi. I had to spell Harrah’s three times for the guy. He complained that HE couldn’t understand me. Lol.

I heard some guys on the radio talking about getting customer service people on the phone whom they couldn’t understand. One of them said he always asks, “May I speak to an American, please”? He said it works. I’ve never tried it.

    Re: foreign CSRs:

An email from my aunt, with subject “Fw: Fwd: FWD: Fwd” said that if you ask for a U.S.A. rep, they must connect you to one. It’s the law!

I am not sure if it’s true and refuse to use snopes, but it’s worth a try.
