In the wake of last night’s shooting rampage in Colorado at a screening of “The Dark Knight Rises” that killed at least 12 people and injured 59 others, author Salman Rushdie tweeted this morning, “The ‘right to bear arms’ is the real Bane of America.”

Bane is the supervillain who faces off against Batman in “The Dark Knight Rises,” the latest installment of the Batman series of movies.

Throughout the day Rushdie has remained active on his Twitter account, revisiting his commentary on the 1999 Columbine school shootings, “After Columbine I was on Bill Maher’s old show arguing vs NRA’s Ted Nugent about gun control. Lots of Nugents on my timeline today.” and replying and retweeting roughly a dozen of his 340,302 followers comments.

Rushdie wasn’t complaining about gun control while in NY and LA under armed guard, was he?

Besides, it’s hard to listen to the gun control idiots when there’s an Obama-administration scandal ongoing which was designed to flout gun laws so that draconian gun bans could be enacted “under the radar”.

How about BOOKS cause deaths, Salman? Your book sparked riots in India that caused hundreds of deaths, and as someone raised a Muslim, you must have known that was going to happen

Rushdie wouldn’t be alive today if not for the private, armed security details he employed for years after a fatwa was placed on his head. What an astounding, elitist, hypocrite shitbag his is to ignore that fact while tweeting his crap opinion. No doubt he believes that the little people of no importance deserve no such service as armed, private security… ever.

Justices Rule Police Do Not Have a Constitutional Duty to Protect Someone

WASHINGTON, June 27 – The Supreme Court ruled on Monday that the police did not have a constitutional duty to protect a person from harm, even a woman who had obtained a court-issued protective order against a violent husband making an arrest mandatory for a violation.

I saw on Drudge that Piers Morgan was advocating gun control. Go back to the UK you POS. You’re not an American, you have no say. Guns are banned in your country and I guess you think it’s just fine. So WTF are you doing in the US except trying to turn it into what you were running from in the first place?

This is why no one watches his show. He opens his mouth and stupid flows out.

How stupid could f#cking people be? The real culprit is steel. The material used to make weapons and ammunition! If you ban steel, no weapons can be made. Thank you

And a message to those gun manufacturers, “you didn’t build that!” So don’t let those lawsuits bother you – the President defends you.”

Like a lot of the progs he demands protection to allow him his freedoms and uses freedom to argue for the curtailing of other’s.

I always hope that when the Mullahs sit around smoking pipes and drinking coffee or whatever the hell the do to pass the time between stoning women and hanging gays from construction cranes they re-institute the fatwa on Rushdie. Just for laughs you understand, they issue orders quietly not to clip him just to fuck him up for awhile. Then after a few months lift it. Then do it again. They guy would never get another date.

@scr_north – “I always hope that when the Mullahs sit around smoking pipes and drinking coffee or whatever the hell they do to pass the time between stoning women and hanging gays from construction cranes…”

LOL – yet western women and homosexuals side with islam over reason.

I guess a lot of women wish for the days of subjugation (cuz they never had to experience it, that all previous women fought so hard to accomplish) and a lot of gay men wish for the days when they’re hacked up and hanged (so they can’t tell).

@Dianne; I’ve come to suspect that the majority opinion of women and gays differs considerably from the loud mouthed morons that purport to represent the two groups. Invariably the leadership of these groups (I’d include unions as well as others) becomes comprised of the most radical and vocal of them and willing to take away freedom for the dubious security of politically correct appeasement.

Gun control is being able to hit your target.
If the people in the theater who were of age and compentent had guns with them fewer people would have been killed. and fewer nuts who knew they would face armed citizens would try to do these horrible things.

Right on, @ronterf. Isn’t it interesting how these things never happen in places where people are armed? We don’t need “gun control” for a safer society, we need “a**hole control”, best accomplished by decent people with guns.
