Breitbart-

Congress may be ready to pass an online sales tax next year.

On Thursday, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV), according to The Hill, said lawmakers from both parties have made progress on a “very fair” proposal for an online sales tax.

Democrats like Majority Whip Dick Durbin (D-IL) and Republicans like Sens. Mike Enzi (R-WY) and Lamar Alexander (R-TN) are also supportive of the measure with Enzi and Alexander saying they have rounded up 15-20 GOP Senators who would also favor of it.

According to The Hill, Reid said the online sales tax would help retail groups and owners of stores in strip malls who feel the the current law favors online retailers over “traditional brick-and-mortar stores.”

I’d like to know who those 15 to 20 Repub senators are so that they can get their asses kicked out of office.

Lamar Alexander has always been a squish but their are obviously too many others like him in the party.

If I order through the 800 number, do I have to pay taxes?

The government isn’t there to try to find ways to tax us. Anyone who tries to, should be tried for Treason and hanged. Barry should be the first one on the gallows.

They ARE the party, at least at the upper echelons. Actual conservatives are largely limited to the peons.

I hate to say it but ever since the net became a place to shop I’ve been waiting for this to happen. Politicians of most stripe can’t leave a successful enterprise alone. They’ll tax it so that they can get more money to spend on their own perks and to give away to friends or on government programs that continue to ensnare people into a web of government entitlements. If you make the trap comfy enough your prey won’t want to leave.

Last time I went shopping down at the local mall, I wasn’t charged for any shipping unlike almost every online seller has to do. Besides internet sellers have an economy of scale that can’t be matched by most retail stores. Their advantage is you get the goods immediately and you can inspect them right there. Sheesh.

How’s this for an idea, rather than raising taxes for” Marketplace Fairness” on internet sellers, why not lower taxes on the brick and mortar guys?

BTW just whointhehell comes up with these Orwellian bill names? Marketplace Fairness, give me an effing break.

The ORIGINAL Tea Partiers dumped the King’s tea in Boston Harbor over unfair taxation; mainly because THE King, was 3,000 miles away.

I guess when this passes, the modern Tea Party will throw Harry Reid’s bony ass into the Potomac! :-D

Wait a minute, legislation including new taxes originates in the House of Representatives which is in control by the Republicans. Something stinks about this story.

Any friggin’ Republican who votes for this or any other new tax should by horse whipped out of either the Senate or House of Representatives.

McConnell and Boehnor the Boner have to go!

Sorry, but I don’t share the outrage on this one. Why should small, local, tax paying, storefront shops be squeezed out of business by giant competitors who do not have to collect sales tax? I miss the Mom and Pop bookshop that were decimated by Amazon.

    Yo, Kevin,
Why should small, local, tax paying, storefront shops be forced to pay racket protection money to corrupt governments for the privilege of selling stuff to citizens? They already pay income and property taxes.

The government contributes NOTHING to the exchange.

Oh, and internet companies are already paying income and property taxes. This is simply more corruption to force businesses to collect the racket money for the states.

And why in Hell should a company in Colorado be forced to collect taxes for Maryland?

    Total Bullshit.
