    Unions aren’t the only ones to blame. In Calilalaland, Governor Moonbeam just signed the bill authorizing the first phase of California’s high speed rail project – his primary rationale was that this bill creates jobs, and not even Brown can claim with a straight face that there is a demand for a high speed train between Bakersfield and Madera. (There are a lot of people who do want to leave Bakersfield – they just don’t necessarily want to go to Madera).

    Since the United States Treasury is paying well over one-half of this initial cost, let me be the first Californian to say to the rest of the nation: “Thanks, suckers.”
