I Like Romney/Rice
That’s lemon, butter and garlic, no?

RUSH: I’ve been thinking about something. There’s a story I had in the Stack. I didn’t get to this yesterday. It’s a Reuters story, “Romney May Name Running Mate Early in Election Race.” There have been names floating on this. There’s Bob Portman in Ohio. There’s Marco Rubio, who continually says it isn’t gonna be him. Bobby Jindal. Governor Christie — who may be talking himself out of it, if he was in there, but he’s openly said that he would take it.
Well, he’s openly said that he would seriously consider it. There are a number of names. Tim Pawlenty is considered one of the front-runners. So today Romney goes to the NAALCP convention. One of the names that is also on this list that shows up now and then but not in every story about it, is Condoleezza Rice. Now, I don’t have any idea who Romney’s gonna choose, but when I saw this story yesterday, “Romney May Name Running Mate Early in Election Race,” I thought, “Why?”
This is awful early to name a VP.
Of course, the Reuters headline says “may name.” But it’s a fairly lengthy story about what the advantages in doing so could be, and they list the people that are possible. It mentions here, “Romney is also considering whether to name a woman, his wife, Ann, said.” To the team of people that would select a running mate. And I’ve seen Condoleezza Rice’s name mentioned off and on. Here goes Romney to the NAALCP. What are the odds that he would pick Condoleezza Rice next week, coming off of this speech to the NAALCP?

Weat would be good but Roimney wouldn’t pick him as long as he’s in a position to win his new district.
I’m still going with Rick Perry. If somebody doesn’t like Romney, he REALLY won’t like Perry, and that’s the idea. Plus Romney=Yankee, Perry=Texan who can’t (or shouldn’t) run for governor a fourth time. Romney’s not a kick-ass type; Perry is.
Rice would be a mistake, electorally. She’s a right-wing Hillary in terms of experience.

Rice would make an excellent VP but a lousy candidate. Romney needs someone who is tough and willing to go in attack mode, to battle Obama and the scum he has in his administration and on his campaign team. Rice isn’t comfortable or even capable of doing that.
Rubio would be the obvious choice but usually the ultimate VP is someone who is a surprise-hopefully this time it is the obvious best candidate which is Rubio.

Personally I like pork fried rice.
I have no idea who Romney ‘should’ pick. This country was f*cking dumb enough to vite for 0bama, including a few people who I used to consider fairly smart. The Democrat-Media complex is going to hammer anyone Romney picks. Rice will get all of George W’s foreign policy errorand plus the ones the media will invent) hung on her. I’d love to see LTC West on the ticket because that would give me some assurance that a Romney administration would be Constitutionally conservative.
Besides, isn’t this relatively early to be picking a VP?

STOP STOP STOP with the Rubio requests. He is NOT constitutionally eligible to be president plus his immigration policies are out of sync with conservative thought.

BC–this is just what I was afraid of. Black people ALL stick together and put race first over country and principle (think Colin Powell and even Allen West voted against the Pigford investigation). I am terrified to admit this but I don’t trust black people to make decisions in the best interest of ALL Americans.
P.S. I was not raised to think this way but rather am a product of the first “post racial” president and his racist policies/personnel (think Eric Holder, Van Jones, Jeremiah Wright, etc.)

@mouse I am afraid you are right.
I have seen a lot of black conservatives that I could really support –like West — but am reluctant because they seem to move far left at the drop of a hat.
The skin color remains the same, but their values change. So I stop liking them.

Oh Boy, leave it to the GOP Rinos to think to choose a token black for the campaign.
Her skin color will not matter to the msm scumbags.
They would be better getting Thomas Sowell or Walter Williams instead. At least they can think for themselves and didn’t vote for obama.

Rice would make a fine VP, doubt in my mind.
but
I think we’re going to need somebody capable of some ‘real talk’. A plain simple clear and concise communicator in the VP position, this time around. We are NOT going to win this Election with a ‘speak softly, carry a big stick’ type candidate. We need somebody that can handle the bully media. Somebody who can do a bit of what Newt does, when he calls out the powers that be. And I just don’t see Rice doing it. Its a new Era. The the Anti-GOP venom needs an antidote.
for the race alone, I suggest Christie

I don’t want Rice on the ticket.
Too much Bush baggage.
As a “double minority”, moderates would be a hard sell.
She’s also said emphatically that she does not want to run.
What’s changed?
@LaBonBon, why is Rubio ineligible?
Because his parents were born in Cuba?
Mitt Romney’s father was born in Mexico…what’s the difference?

@norman einstein – Rubio’s parents were not U.S. citizens when he was born. Same argument for Obama whose father was not a U.S. citizen.
My opposition to Rubio is because of his pro-amnesty immigration views, however.

@NoMoBo–thanks for the explanation. I should have written more. Mittens’ parents were both natural-born US citizens who were living in Mexico but chose US citizenship for their children. Thus, George was eligible to run for president, too.

I agree with beachbum…Chris Christie is the best option for Romney’s attack mode VP.
Not only that, but he’ll help Romney carry states like Jersey, Pennsylvania, New Hampshire, and quite possibly Maine; all states that Obama thinks are safe-democrat states. NOT TRUE ANYMORE.

Rice would be a terrible choice:
1) She would add fuel to the whole “bringing us back to the days of Bush” line of attack.
2) She’s brings no swing state advantage.
3) Appeal to black voters? Don’t make me laugh.
4) Appeal to women voters? Almost non-existent. She’s homely and not stylish enough for many women voters…sad, but true.
5) Like him or not, not picking Rubio after all the speculation and hoopla will be perceived as a kick in the ballbag by a lot of Hispanics and Floridians. If Romney’s going to pick someone else, it’s got to be someone that can counter that and that ain’t Rice.

Marco Rubio was born in the United States, therefore he is a natural born citizen. Case closed. You can argue hypotheticals all you want, but there is no case whatsoever that will support anyone that believes otherwise. Hey Chuck U, get your facts straight.
http://jeffersonsrebels.blogspot.com/2011/05/native-born-citizen-yes-but-gov-bobby.html
“It is too commonly assumed that a child born on US soil automatically becomes a natural-born citizen. This is an historically incorrect assumption, but what else can we expect from a population that has been poorly educated about the intentions of the men who wrote our Constitution? Over a period of 250 years, much history has been cast aside by educators and others with a political agenda. However, court records, congressional records, and documents in The National Archives have resurfaced due to the diligence of people profoundly concerned with finding the truth. Below is a short list of some key people who have studied this issue at great length and at great personal expense.”

P.S. Do you really believe the libtards are dumb enough to let Rubio’s eligibility pass? Get a grip! They went after McCain’s eligibility! That sort of stupidity is reserved for us conservatives who gave Obama a pass on his ineligibility. Jeesh!
