Have a Gay-Only Blood Bank For 5 Years and Let’s See Who Agrees To Accept It
Check out this bit of contradiction in this Quigley guy’s statement. I swear these people are either idiots or they think we’re idiots.
Quigley says that the ban on gay blood donors should be lifted because we have sophisticated screening for AIDS, hepatitis, etc etc.. Then he says that straights that lead risky lifestyles pose a bigger threat to the blood supply than monogamous gays.
Huh?
WTF happened to our sophisticated screening that makes it completely safe for gays to donate blood? And the dunderheaded woman doesn’t even blink.

Well, homosexuals are superior to heterosexuals in every way imaginable. I mean, that’s what the people on TV tell me…
But yeah, the hypocrisy is amazing, ain’t it?

They’re still at this?
One word answer because “If you’re explaining, you’re losing”: NO.

Straights that lead risky lifestyles are already not allowed to donate blood. Get with the program.

This isn’t about the blood supply, this about trying to force the public to think of homosexuality as “normal.”
They aren’t fooling anyone, not even themselves. Even if every complaint they have were resolved to their satisfaction, their own conscience would still tell them they aren’t “normal.”

Have the gay blood pool for 4 months trial. Back Obama into setting the example by taking monthly transfusions to ‘prove’ that it’s safe.
That would serve two worthwhile purposes.
Zero can thus prove he’s as much an authority on healthcare as he is on Constituional Law.

I’ll never understand these donor rules.
After hubby died 4 yrs ago, I was about 30 seconds into the interview with someone from the donor bank…
“Was he in the UK during the 1980′s?”
“Yes, we were stationed there ’83-87.”
“I’m sorry, but we cannot harvest tissue or organs due to the risk of mad cow disease.”
Yet, his younger brother, who was stationed in the UK at the same time was able to donate when he passed in ’95.

Oh, yes. Just because other countries are allowing this makes it a FABulous idea.

Only if Hollywood produces a TV show portraying a Black homophobe refusing to take any of “that” blood…fer instance
In an episode of M*A*S*H, the staff of the 4077 gradually darken the skin of a White racist to make him think he’s turning black after getting a blood transfusion from a Black person.

I was upset to learn I couldn’t donate because I lived in the UK. I had to get over it. They can too.
(By the way I hadn’t realised gays are also not allowed until I read this.)

That sounds like a shark-jump if I ever heard one.

Cynic and Jerry hit it out of the park.
There is a reason gays can’t donate and it has nothing to do with their moral standing, it has to do with known actions directly attributed to the spread of AIDS and HIV. You also can’t give if you’ve been in prison or had a tattoo or piercing within the last year (or it was so the last time I donated).
Guys sleeping around with women are far less likely to contract AIDS or HIV through intercourse with a female. Women sleeping around with lots of guys are. Men engaging in homosexual activity are.
It’s common sense. I’m not going to run the risk of losing ANOTHER family member to AIDS so that gay people can feel good about themselves. I will NOT support overturning the ban; it is common sense.

A little bit off-topic, but related:
Our blood screening methods are terrible, and they need to exclude MORE people from donating, not less. For example, people who may have been exposed to tick borne infections should be banned too because people have DIED as a result of getting tainted blood from donors who have tick diseases – which the blood people DO NOT SCREEN FOR. So you could be otherwise perfectly healthy, get into a car accident or something that requires you be given blood to survive, and instead of just having to worry about your injuries, you could contract a fatal disease, or one that is so devastating and crippling that you’ll WISH you were dead.
Until they come up with better ways to ensure that donated blood is clean and safe (before they put it inside people who are already medically fragile) they really need to be a lot more careful about who they allow to give blood.

“monogamous gays”??
Their own studies have shown infidelity in 100% of male couples who make it to their 5th year as a couple.
Beware modern activists redefining the language who will say “we are FAITHFUL, just don’t practice SEXUAL EXCLUSIVITY.”
Incidentally, it is not a prohibition of blood donations from “gays” per se, but on men who have had sex with a man, and women who have had sex with a man who has had sex with a man.” There is a difference there. It’s about dangerous BEHAVIOR not the identity label you slap on yourself

Amazing how liberals are willing to risk other peoples lives in order to promote their special interest cause.
So if other nations are already allowing homosexuals to donate blood, does this nation block plasma and other blood products from those nations? I wonder how long that has been going on?
If gays are allowed to add their blood to the common pool you’ll see a lot more people stocking up the blood of family and friends before a major operation or for those that need regular transfusions. I doubt that would be good for the nation’s blood supply.

They’ll open this up for everyone, but there will be two blood banks, one for them and one for the rest of us because politicians love to exempt themselves from the crap they force on us.

I think Frank Reynolds, if he were alive today, would seriously disagree with this politically correct ritual dick beating contest.
But Frank died of AIDS that he caught during an operation from a blood transfusion that had been donated by a turd-burglar.
