The cleaning really brings them to life!
I have a couple of technical questions, illustr8r. Why, considering their age and storage conditions up until the middle of the 20th century, do they not evidence any craqueleur? And is the restoration artist @1:49 using super thinned oil? It looks like a water color tray.

Happy Dependence Day everyone.
It is high time to make the 4th a Happy Independence Day once again.

Everyone stay cool this 4th.. It’s HOT. So hot Obama & Romney will be sharing a snow cone while Biden plays in the kiddie pool. But seriously, don’t blow off any fingers with them firecrackers since your fingers belong to the tax payers, penalty payers, no wait, tax payers.

I’ll wait for the finished product. Just a few months ago, Little Gay Minions added blurbs to the end of the presidential biographies on the White House website with references to Obama that were something less than scholarship. It won’t be surprising if George Washington ends up with an enticing smile and a rainbow cravat.

I just hope Pelosi and Reid don’t find out about this type of restoration work. They both might look life like if these folks worked a couple of months on them.

Very interesting. Thanks for posting, illustr8r.
It’s nice to see some “grant money” going to a worthy cause, for a change.

@Norman – I agree.
I can only hope that these restored paintings – and more like them – will last until this current Snookie-watching, hip-hop, ghetto-garbage rap generation is flushed out of our system, and we return to honor and respect of our country’s history. So that there will be artists like these who will continue the work of restoring and preserving our history.
Happy Fourth of July (fka Independence day)!
