This was not how Bike To Work Day was supposed to go.

Sitting in on part of a Denver City Council retreat yesterday, Westword learned that ex-councilman Doug Linkhart, who ran for mayor last year, was hit by a pickup truck while cycling to a Bike To Work Day event with the mayor and current councilpersons.

Fortunately, he’s fine, but the incident did prompt a conversation between council members and the mayor about road safety regulations and the interactions between cyclists and vehicles.

Ya. Here’s the conversation – KEEP BIKES OFF THE FRIGGIN ROAD. Conversation over.

You know, if there comes a day when cars are replaced by some superior technology that allows for these vehicles to go 200 MPH safely, I would be screaming that CARS should get off the friggin raods.

If only the doctors had used devices powered only by wind and solar, he could have achieved a real green epiphany (think: mouse drum powered dental drill…).

Rule #1. Close interaction between cyclists and motor vehicles should always be discouraged.

Now that F&F has been exposed and terminated, WithHolder and Hitlery will turn their attention to banning all cars in the US. Already a new car walking operation, dubbed Tijuana Taxi, is being planned to terrorize the streets of Mexico.

There is a way to ride a bike and keep out of the way of real traffic. Maybe this guy didn’t know how.

p.s. I know this has nothing to do with idiots riding bikes next to cars, but it was the next video that popped up, and hey, it was nostalgic.

For all the turd stains that claim they pay for the roads (while riding their bikes), BS, you’re only paying while burning gasoline that you paid for. I.E. The bicycles are getting a free and unwarranted access.

…it was a sign that the city does need to do more to address safety risks for cyclists.

I smell something rotten in Denver. This sounds like a libtard set-up. Sorry for the conspiracy theory, but we all know that libtards will manufacture “evidence” if need be.

I kinda went flying,” he said. “I kind of plowed into the sidewalk. I had a helmet, which didn’t help.”

Mr. Linkhart just became the lightening rod of protests for liberal letter-writers and blog commenters for telling the truth about bike helmets.

While I certainly understand the humor in this situation, don’t hate on cyclists. Cyclists were the ones who lobbied for paved roads at the end of the 19th century and bicycles also lead to the development of rubber tires long before automobiles became common place on American roads.

To be completely against cyclists nowadays is extremely short sighted.

How do these bozos even feel comfortable holding up traffic while pedaling a fast and furious 10 miles per hour? If they hit a bump and go boom, they are immediately road fodder. It will still hurt to get run over by a vehicle going 10 MPH!
