observations from yet another sour-mooded critic…
(I’m in a shitty type of Quisling Roberts mood, ya dig?)
An off-the-rack Fender doesn’t suit a lot of the tunes. Like Duane Allman said after a Rolling Stone reporter asked him what parts he played in ‘Layla’ vs. Clapton; “I played the Gibson, he played the Fender. You can figure it out, right?”
It definitely wasn’t a ‘history’ of rock riffs. Way too much emphasis on 80′s and later crap. Did you notice when it all seemed to start to blend together?
Slayer? Are you kidding me? Not one Ry Cooder, not one Robin Trower, only one Page, only one Hendrix, only one Richards, only one Duane Allman, only one Clapton? Oh, but we got Slayer! Slayer?
All in all, I’ll give him props, he did a decent job with what he had to work with. Plays a hell of a lot better than I do.
(Man, I gotta quit being in such a negative mood)
“Shiny, happy people….” Ahhh, shaddapp!

Amazing! (Even though I didn’t know three-quarters of the last half.)

Reminds me of the joke….How many guitar players does it take to change a light bulb?
13
One to change the bulb and
Twelve to say, “Pfefff, I could do that!”

I’ve played many of those songs before in a previous life so this video is much appreciated.
Damn, I really miss playing.
…but then again, I’ve got bills to pay.

Did I miss it or did he miss Frampton?

Miss playing these (and many others), but agree w/Alxandro bills to pay.
@JohnG – I didn’t hear any Frampton, but I consider the riffs he selected to be ‘ground breakers’. Innovators I guess is what I’m trying to say. I’m only a trumpet player though…
