Dad spends 13 years on graduation gift

Bryan Martin is the kind of caring, thoughtful dad whose graduation present to his daughter was 13 years in the making. When his daughter, Brenna, graduated from high school last week, Bryan presented her with a copy of Dr. Seuss’ “Oh, The Places You’ll Go!” The gift was anything but conventional, as Brenna discovered when she opened the book. “Since the day you started kindergarten I’ve gotten every teacher, coach, and principal to write a little something about you inside this book,” Bryan told his daughter. Brenna posted her story online and drew hundreds of commenters moved by her dad’s sweet gift.

She’ll go farther in life with the words written in that book than with the keys to a new car.
Great gift, Dad!

How many kids do you know with a father like him? Even the best dads we can think of wouldn’t imagine a gift as fine as this. As a matter of fact, I can’t think of any MOTHERS who would put such forethought into their child’s graduation present. It leads me to believe this young lady will have quite a bit of support in her dreams and goals. I hope she takes hold of that support and appreciates what the future brings her.

I wouldn’t want to read what some teachers would have liked to say about me. Ornery comes to mind.

Yeah, Frosteetoes,
“Should take up the Convent or a Brothel” would have been popular in my copy of Dr. Seuss.
There’s just something about being a damn bitch that resonates with both locations.

From Wikipedia—-
“In the United States and Canada, Oh, the Places You’ll Go! is a popular gift for students graduating from high school and college, spiking in sales every spring, selling up to 300,000 copies every year.”
This was such a wonderful, loving gift. Now let us hope that her mind soaks up truth and not the teachings of most colleges.

She’s a lucky girl to have a Dad like that. I also sent my oldest daughter a copy of Dr. Suess’s book, Oh, The Places You’ll Go when she graduated from Regent University with a Masters Degree last year. I wish I would have thought of what this Dad did for his daughter. I wouldn’t trade either one of my daughters to have had another son. Don’t get me wrong, I love my 1st born son but daughters are special as I grew up with 3 younger brothers and no sisters.

“It’s not the gift…it’s the THOUGHT that counts.”
This Dad is a living example of that aphorism.
The book wouldn’t have cost him much, but the effort and care he put into the project all those years is truly impressive.
I know they’re very personal, but I’d kinda like to be able to read more of the handwritten messages.
Her music teacher’s comment was excellent.
