Okay, I have to admit this. Because I love The Wizard of Oz so much, I’d leave a brilliant compliment, except for the fact that the word ‘its’ is spelled wrong.
Please don’t go spreading your pride about a great post if you can’t get your act together.
its A possesive, meaning belonging to it.
it’s A contraction, meaning ‘it is’ or ‘it has’.
IT’S been bothering me for an hour or so. IT’S so obvious, even my public school-educated children might see the difference. ITS effectiveness is detracted by the error in grammar.
A vital lesson I try to impose: It’s imperative you learn the importance of grammatics and its reflection upon your message.
The comment I wanted to donate was this:

Before anyone corrects me, I spelled ‘possessive’ wrong. It’s a bad habit of mine because I type too fast.

MSNBC Morning Joe found there talking points this morning. Well worth the watch. I think Mika was read to do her self.
“Please don’t go spreading your pride about a great post if you can’t get your act together.”
First, I didn’t post it here, it was generously chosen….and I’m honored as always.
Sorry for the mistake…..English is not my first language. I’m Belgian…..
I’m sure everyone appreciates your motherly GRAMMAR lesson….

That’s the second time this week I’ve heard that “English is not my first language” bull shit.
You ain’t Canadian are you. French Canadian Midget with a large collection of baseball bats with Vaseline on the big end in case you run into me cause you know what I’m going to do to you with those bats?
Probably not. Sorry, just asking.
Welcome.

Calm down, Brad. It’s good to know people who come to our country actually want to learn the language of the majority.
I’m very happy you appreciate my lesson in English grammar, Diogenes. If I visited your site, I would probably be aware of your first generation language barrier. My grandmother suffered from that too back in the 1930′s. The entire family struggled while she learned English. You should be proud you have made the progress you have made. Most American-born teenagers cannot speak as eloquently as you.
In the meantime, I will repeat myself: This was a WONDERFUL post! I would love to spread this post around to all my friends. I would hope the grammar is corrected.
DS – I love your stuff, as always. I mean “WTF”, we have so many talented people here and on FB. You’re one of the best!

I was not referencing shooters Grandma. I have all the respect in the world for her. I was referencing the Impolite Canadian who made a similar if not exact statement as the post immediately above mine. You know the Canadian tuff guy dude that thinks he’s bad because he sneaks up on crack addicts wit a baseball bat. Sorry for the confusion. My attempt at late night humor after tipping a few.

Don’t hate me because I used to be a copy editor. The headline “it’s” hasn’t been corrected yet…
I just wandered in here after reviewing comments for spam, etc.
I’m going to try and piece this together.
-Cardigan finds a graphic that she likes at Diogenes’ and puts it into a post, she also lifts the post title by copying and pasting.
- The title has an error in the form of a
possessive/contraction switcheroo.
- Shooter’s Grandma tips off everyone to the error, but does it more as a lecture (as if the error can’t be made in haste without actually knowing the difference) than something friendly.
- In the lecture, Shooter’s Grandma makes a spelling error but says it was due to haste.
- Nobody uses it as a sledgehammer in order to point and mock.
At this very moment I do not know whether to be ashamed or proud of the iOTW readers.
lol.
