Another Bloomberg Poll Completely Out of Lockstep With Conventional Perception

Americans Say They’re Better Off Since Obama Took Office

A plurality of Americans now say they are better off than they were when President Barack Obama was inaugurated, providing a surprising lift to Obama’s re- election campaign despite troublesome economic news.

Forty-five percent of those surveyed in a Bloomberg National Poll say they are better off than at the beginning of 2009 compared with 36 percent who say they are worse off.

So, I went to their methodology (Attachment: Poll Results), and once again an idiot can figure out that these are push polls.

13% polled are under 25.

22% are under 30.

So, they are better off than they were 3 years ago when they were either in high school, college, or working at the local deli smelling the cheese to see if it went bad.

45% are unmarried.

Pretty hard to fug up your finances when you have no dependents.

64% did not have children living with them.

44% did not work full time.

29% were minorities.

36% had a household income below 50K

Make your own extrapolations about this “random poll.”

Yeah, living with mom and/or dad, with no responsibilities and all your worldly needs and wants taken care of by someone else definitely IS “better off” … at least for the freeloader(s) it is :(

Well, that’s it. Romney might as well fold up and leave.

    Yeah sure

    Why don’t they just ask:

“Has your feeling of being better off since Obama took office been, somewhat better off, much better off, or exceptionally better off?”

Oh, look! 100% of the people polled said they were better off since Obama took office! Wow! He really is the 4th best president ever!

    wretch!

What? It was a completely objective poll of 100 black, gay, unemployed Muslims.

Push or skewed polls are the easiest thing to create and unless you read the poll details you might not know. Manipulation of the data after the poll is common and on honest polls is used to try to level out such things as problems with the questions, geography or sample size. I’ve posted this link to a clip from the Brit comedy TV show “Yes, Prime Minister” on how easy it is to use the questions and the order asked to get two different responses from the same person. It’s also a howl.

I feel that I am definitely better off under Obama. But then again, I happen to like subsisting on catfood, road kill and dumpster cuisine, as well as living under an bridge over Interstate 5.

So put me down as a “yes.”

I’m one of those 45%ers that better off now then when Obama took office. Why? Because my special needs child turned 18 and qualifies for gubmint assistance. I kinda feel like a louse because gubmint money flows into our home but she deserves it just as much as anybody does.

@demonrat dave: America is a blessed and wealthy nation – and despite my conservative views, I believe that this nation can afford to help those citizens who need assistance. Where I, and many conservatives draw the line is those people who do not need or deserve to be on the government dole, or for whom government money is nothing but a scam to buy votes, or where public welfare is a generational way of life.

This “poll” was conducted by Fishing Poles LLC.

COO is I. B. Fishing. “We can “prove” anything” is their motto.

NB: Harder to prove Items are very costly.

@ Wyatt, Insensitive Jerk I feel they same; as a society we need to help those that are unable to help themselves thru no fault of their own but abuse of the system should not be tolerated.

I always love your humor. But what I appreciate even more is your ability to turn around in an instant, and say something which would require entirely different descriptives in your screen name.

If you keep the poll within the New York City limits or California State we would get the same results. By the way, has anyone on this blog ever been polled?

@shotwell — In the 4 years I’ve lived in my current house, I’ve been polled probably 10 times. I would say 5 of those are local issues (county stuff) while the other 5 are state or national. However, I’ve always had the feeling that when I gave my answers or was allowed to make a comment at the end, my responses were thrown away.

And, I’ve probably turned down another 4 or 5 possible polls because I was too busy at the time.
