After Issa and Holder Meet, Still No Documents, Contempt Charges Still Looming

Town Hall

The meeting between Attorney General Eric Holder and Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa has ended after 20 minutes of discussion. Holder came with an offer of a briefing on Fast and Furious documents, but did not physically turn over any documents. This is unsatisfactory to Issa who has said repeatedly that in order for Holder to avoid a contempt vote Wednesday at 10 AM, he must hand over 1300 Fast and Furious documents to the Committee.

“The documents they may choose to give in the future, we need before tomorrow,” Issa said to reporters. ““Ultimately the documents needed for postponement seem to be in their possession.”

Holder’s failure to produce documents at the 5 PM meeting come after he failed to present them by this morning as requested, after he failed to respond to an October 2011 subpoena as requested and after more than a year of requests for transparency surrounding his role in Operation Fast and Furious.

Issa said there is a chance Holder would submit the requested documents tonight but that a contempt vote is still scheduled for Wednesday and has released an official statement.

“I had hoped that after this evening’s meeting I would be able to tell you that the Department had delivered documents that would justify the postponement of tomorrow’s vote on contempt.  The Department told the Committee on Thursday that it had documents it could produce that would answer our questions. Today, the Attorney General informed us that the Department would not be producing those documents. The only offer they made involved us ending our investigation.

“While I still hope the Department will reconsider its decision so tomorrow’s vote can be postponed, after this meeting I cannot say that I am optimistic.  At this point, we simply do not have the documents we have repeatedly said we need to justify the postponement of a contempt vote in committee.”

My reaction to this whole business is, “SO WHAT?”

I’m glad Issa is pursuing that P.O.S., but is he going to call in a U.S. Marshall to haul Eric (Dick) Holder off in chains and give him an orange jumpsuit. Unless he can do that, he’s just jerking off for the publicity.
Holder needs to be taken out the FAST AND FURIOUS way. That shouldn’t be too difficult in DC. Hillary could arrange it.

Yeah, because Holder and the DoJ deserves every chance possible to turn it in. Because they haven’t had enough time yet.

But hey, let’s screw around a little more. Give them a little more time to abuse and expand their power over us. Give them a little more time to help out their political allies, and taint the voting process. Give them just a wee bit more time to put more lives in danger, and kick up their kill count.

Because that’s just what Holder and his flunkies need. More time to continue making a mockery of justice and wage lawfare to steer the country towards their progressive/socialist views.

Just saw an interview with Senator Chuck Grassley, and he minced no words in voicing his contempt of Eric Holder. Grassley has been all over this from the beginning, and he’s pushing hard for the House to find Holder in Contempt, and when they do I expect the Senate to start demanding Holder’s immediate resignation or removal.

Should be a very interesting day…

But keep in mind that no matter what happens, Holder has a permanent “Get Out of Jail FREE” card in his back pocket because I have no doubt Obammy will pardon Holder for all of his sins sooner or later.

And just now, Obama used executive privilege to seal up the documents in question and protect Holder.

    Gee, didn’t see that coming.

    This should get very interesting.

“Executive Privilege” can only be used if the POTUS is directly involved, personally.
Holder has said over and over that he was NOT.
So…which is it? They can’t have it both ways.

Yep, here’s the story at Fox-

The administration knows the media had their backs, so they don’t see any danger in having Dear Leader do this. Far too many voters are perfectly OK with Obama ruling by imperial decree, so this is just another day for them. This entire situation makes Watergate look tame by comparison but because the president is the media’s guy, the reaction is total indifference.

My understanding it that the documents in question are for February 2011 onward, i.e. post F&F. Which seems a clear indication that there was a cover up and Obama is in the middle of it.

Where does it go from here a subpoena from the Supreme Court?

Somebody better quick register FastandFuriousgate.com. Cause its going to get a lot of traffic.

Gee, another shocker. The usual tools on the committee are defending Holder to no end.

I love how we’re supposed to excuse him and give all the time in the world to hand over what was asked of him. He’s had over a year to do it. If it were you or me who held evidence critical to an investigation, we wouldn’t have over a year to hand it over. In fact, they wouldn’t even ask us for it. They’d just come armed to the teeth and take it. Boy, it really must be awesome to be a part of the elite government bunch.

I agree about the cover up Dr. Tar. I’ll bet the media still won’t cover it. Reporters asking questions in the Rose Garden is huge stuff to them…dead Boarder Agents and dead innocent Mexicans at the hands of Obama’s minions, not so much…

@Menderman, “I’ll bet the media still won’t cover it.”
This thing is so big they won’t have any CHOICE but to cover it.

Wouldn’t it be ironically orgasmic if the most “transparent administration” ever was taken down by a COVER-UP?

Both Obama and Holder should be impeached for obstruction of justice.

@Norman – “Executive Privilege” can only be used if the POTUS is directly involved, personally.

You got that right – here’s a quote from Senator Charles Grassley:

“How can the president assert executive privilege if there was no White House involvement? How can the president exert executive privilege over documents he’s supposedly never seen? Is something very big being hidden to go to this extreme?”

The Republic as we once knew it is dead, it died on Nov 2008. Absolutely nothing is going to happen to Holder, more than a slap on the wrist. Antichrist Obama will just issue an EO, and Holder will walk away unpunished. Congress is a worthless gaggle of self serving wimps. The “media” will do every thing in their power not to investigate the matter, since it would make their guy, Obama look bad. They will once again do their part to insure the re-election of pResident Hope and Change. And given this monster’s ego, my guess it that he will pull his own October suprise by declaring a state of emergency and suspending the elections, making himself dictator of life.
