Gun ownership up, crime down

Gun-control advocates are noticeably silent when crime rates decline. Their multimillion-dollar lobbying efforts are designed to manufacture mass anxiety that every gun owner is a potential killer. The statistics show otherwise.
Last week, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) announced that violent crime decreased 4 percent in 2011. The number of murders, rapes, robberies and aggravated assaults all went down, continuing a pattern.
“This is not a one-year anomaly, but a steady decline in the FBI’s violent-crime rates,” said Andrew Arulanandam, spokesman for theNational Rifle Association. “It would be disingenuous for anyone to not credit increased self-defense laws to account for this decline.”
Mr. Arulanandam pointed out that only a handful of states had concealed-carry programs 25 years ago, when the violent-crime rate peaked. Today, 41 states either allow carrying without a permit or have “shall issue” laws that make it easy for just about any noncriminal to get a permit. Illinois and Washington, D.C., are the only places that refuse to recognize the right to bear arms. The Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence did not respond to requests for comment.

A friend of mine was “discussing” the 2nd Amendment with one of his children’s school teachers. She was arguing with the age old Lefty canard that the language was talking only about a well regulated militia. My friend countered with, “You teach English grammar and punctuation, right?”
“Why yes I do,” says she, patronizingly.
“So then, tell me what the purpose of a comma is?”
“It is to divide a sentence into two thoughts.”
“That is correct,” my friend agreed and then recited the Amendment with it’s attendant punctuation.
Sure did shut her up….

Death Comparison
********Chicago *********Afghanistan
2012 ……. 228 …………….. 149
2011 ……. 430 …………….. 418
2010 ……. 432 …………….. 499
2009 ……. 458 …………….. 317
2008 ……. 510 …………….. 155
2007 ……. 443 …………….. 117
2006 ……. 468 …………….. 99
2005 ……. 448 …………….. 98
Total ….. 3417 ……………. 1852
It’s a quagmire. We must abandon Chicago.
In no way am I trying to equate these deaths nor the manner in which these souls met their Maker. However, the point being made is abundantly clear. The number of Americans deployed to Afghanistan is far less than the number of Americans living in Chicago. The chance that an American will die from other than natural causes in Chicago is far, far greater. Also, I believe the death total in Afghanistan includes misadventure.

And turds that love to say “Well, I don’t think the people that wrote the Constitution were thinking about machine guns back then.”.
To which I like to reply that they didn’t make exceptions for owning artillery, cannons or volley guns, some of which were considered barbaric at the time. And there’s the fact that machine guns are currently illegal, except for those who can afford the ridiculously expensive license and galactically expensive pre-1986 machine gun. And let’s forget the fact that machine guns in legal civilian possession have a non-existent crime rate.
But these are the people that think an assault gun is a “gun that shoots bullets”, or that screwing a can to the end of a rifle makes it perfectly silent. To which we can thank Hollywood, which is pretty much the only place the anti-gun nuts get their knowledge of guns from.
Sorry, I know I said I’d shut up in the Jesse Jackson thread. Couldn’t help myself. So I apologize. But it’s not surprising that when the number of civilian owned weapons goes up, crime goes down. Big surprise, the greater the possibility that the victim of your criminal activity may blow a few holes in you, the less likely you are to commit said crime. And we all know that crimes are often prevented without a single shot ever being fired. But there’s a narrative to be held to by the left, so inconvenient facts are ignored, or flat out lied about.
And yet they still wonder why we are such “Bitter-clingers”. Gee, can’t imagine.

Oh, and I like the Sharps rifle in the photo. One of my favorite guns, though the ones I shot were the earlier Civil War model carbines that used nitrated paper cartridges with a percussion cap. There were a lot of cool and odd Civil War era breechloaders, but the Sharps was always my favorite.

Not one of the 14 firearms I own has killed anyone…recently!
I love how the leftards go on and on about this shit…because one gun killed someone, somewhere, ALL guns should be banned…
..africanised American’s have killed 100′s of thousands of people since their ‘immancipation’ and the damage they’ve done is incalculable…yet we haven’t banned them…yet!
Muslims kill thousands EVERYDAY…we haven’t banned them…yet!
Womyn’s killed thousands of their own children EVERYDAY…we haven’t banned them!
If they outlaw guns, ONLY outlaws will have them (which IS their goal, anyway)…sorry, I do not intend to be a victim!
