LEMMings

Home - by - June 19, 2012 - 15:59 America/New_York - 31 Comments

I don’t know if this is drunk blogging or if it’s simply “speaking truth to stupid,” what I do know is that it is an ill-informed pantload.

iOTW readers were introduced to a blogger named Impolite Canadian on yesterday’s Paul Lemmen primer post. First impressions mean a lot, and lout is the kindest word that comes to mind.

So, the obligatory belly shot portion of this post is over, now I will treat IC’s latest post very seriously, because this is a deadly serious matter.

Ann Barnhardt wrote an expose’ about a blogger named Paul Lemmen. The intent of the piece was to ensure that everyone know exactly who Paul Lemmen is as he insinuates himself into the epicenter of the Brett Kimberlin saga. If Lemmen’s participation were to ultimately cause more harm than good to the people he was trying to help, Ann did not want people looking around after the fact saying, “how did we not know who this guy was?”

All Ann did was say, “this is who Paul Lemmen is. Now that you know who he is, don’t act ignorant and betrayed after any shit hits any fan. It’s your right to embrace and encourage him, my job is done.”

The rebuttal to Ann’s piece by Impolite Canadian? -

WE WILL NOT BE BULLIED INTO SILENCE!!!

This is the headline of a blog post, and right out of the gate it’s a total misfire. Who is bullying and who is trying to silence and who is being silenced?

Ann didn’t silence, she raised the volume.

No we won’t. This elitist attitude will stop. The NBC, Ali Akbar and the elitist fucks who form that miserable, sorry-ass organization engaged in a personal vendetta against ex con man Paul H Lemmen.

Ann has nothing to do with Ali Akbar, and until yesterday she had never heard of him.

Ann Barnhardt, one such elitist bastard, says she wrote the rag on Paul Lemmen at the request of friends. BULLSHIT.

Nope. Not Bullshit.  READ THE REST HERE

First of all, “impolite” doesn’t even cover what you are “IC” I read the article yesterday and ALL the comments and chose not to comment. I read Ann’s column carefully and I just didn’t come to the conclusion you did Mr. Impolite Canadian. I am not an elitists and I am not an “insider,” I never met Breitbart (wish I had had that honor) but I NEED to be informed especially about people who are blogging. Your article is pathetic, pandering, and pitiful. Anger management might help because I sure didn’t read anything about anyone silencing anybody.

IC is one ANGRY dude. It’s almost as if someone named NBC has his balls in a vice grip and won’t let go.

I tried to to be civil with him, and he seemed to respond likewise, but this post went “Postal”!

I hear that the weed up in Canada is pretty gnarly. The whole thing smells of anarchy and Occupie to me. The circle goes around.

I stand by what BFH states here. I expected something of this nature. I have my own opinion when it comes to “impolite canadian”–WINK!

A comment was made by “Cynics Rule” late in the Barnhardt thread that didn’t get much attention, but I think he/she may have hit on something:

“….Lemmen doesn’t accept donations, but those that staunchly support him are his benefactors…follow the money boys and girls….”

The gravy train was seriously derailed yesterday. Food for thought.

When you run into an imposter and con-man like Paul Lemmen, he will manipulate you by relating events of which you know, but change them slightly to his benefit; generally, from an insider’s point of view. This makes him a quasi-celebrity and makes those star-struck individuals easy marks for his con.

Unfortunately, even when the mark is shown proof of the con they just cannot face up to the fact that they’ve been taken. Their pride will not allow them to admit they were so easily manipulated. Then it turns into the battered wife syndrome: she thinks that if she gets dinner just right, he’ll turn into Prince Charming.

The mark will follow the con-man, slavishly, until the con-man no longer needs them and they are discarded. Which will make them an even easier mark for the next con.

The poor angry dupe isn’t being “bullied,” he is being exposed ! This is fascinating. What in the hell is there to defend ? Fraud, lies, dishonesty, mental illness, dysfunction – someone is going to be eligible for a Nobel Prize for insanity, LOL ;-D

I read Barnhardt’s thing and most of the comments but refrained from commenting because I got “no dog in the kettle” so to speak. This “Impolite Canadian” reads like a PaulBot – all frothy at the mouth, destroying strawmen, and soiling himself over a friendly “heads up” from Barnhardt.

I’m not pretending to understand the vehemence.

I left a post at the IC site and Lemmen deleted it. I simply reminded him that he used to hold Ann in high regard, even posting her videos at therightplanet and praising her name there when he was posing as Dr. Will VanBever-no space. Ann has earned her credibility and no angry con artist can take that away from her.

Doubling down. Gee. Why does this tactic seem so familiar? People on another end of the emotional IQ Bell Curve keep going there.

“Paul has been NOTHING but straight forward with us about his past.”

I’m pretty sure the most important phrase in that statement is the one missing: complete disclosure. Let’s not even address the ‘sin no more’ protestations.

IC admitted in the thread yesterday that he didn’t know as much as he had been led to believe. Maybe that’s what this is about – anger at betrayal and shoot the messengers.

Throwing around accusations of elitism (I bet he’s getting more than 200 hits today) is like the kid bawling about life not being fair. It’s not about self-referring elites. The people who are highlighting this problem have never had a history of putting on airs (Ann speaks strongly, which is totally different), and they admit mistakes – instead of holding onto them as if they are an endangered child.

I hope he can undo his Gordian knot and realize the timing of AA’s involvement/exposure as concerns the NBC was completely coincidental as far as Lemmen’s postings are concerned.

What did finally come to a head was enough people rumbling in the background who noted the continuing drama-llama insertion into the Kimberlin saga with alarm. As was said, the waters are tough enough to navigate without additional mud from a very questionable wanna-be big fish.

I’m grateful to Ann for putting it together, to BFH for hosting the post, and I’m embarrassed that I didn’t speak up myself to anyone else about things that made my ears grow points.

I also hope Mare won’t let this exhaust her.

IC, you’re letting this define you. There is no honor in spewing vitriol to defend misplaced loyalty.

Jesus H. Chrysler! IC needs to drop his blood pressure before he blows a gasket.

I’ve been following this quietly as well because I too have no dog in this fight, but I do appreciate the effort that is going into controlling this Lemmen character by all of you who work very hard to run these blogs and try to keep a lid on the BS that so many are eager to spread across your website. This is why I don’t run a blog any more and I refuse to moderate anyone else’s.

This reminds me of the clown back in 1999-2000 who hit DU up for thousands in phony medical donations for cancer treatments. I do not recall the names now but the controversy was pretty rabid at the time and the perp got away clean with the money.

This is a different matter though and a lot more serious in my view. Good on ya BFH for coordinating this with Ann and all the rest of the people who are being so diligent in pursuing this.

    Stout hearts.

It’s easy to write an angry, vitriol-filled diatribe, where every third or fourth word is “f***”, or something else close to that level of vulgarity.

It’s a lot harder to get thinking people to take something like that seriously, or even read it through to the end. Life is too short–for me at least–to weed out the 50%+++ swear words, and see if there’s anything left of value to read.

Anne, although a bit reactionary and verbose, has proven to be accurate more times than not. Same, to a greater degree, for BFH. I am surprised that more of the regulars have not commented on this subject.
Or, is this intended for bloggers only?

I came here from Ann’s site following the conman story. I read Ann’s article and this article along with all the comments on both.

Follow the money? That was my first thought too. Cons play on people’s compassion by claiming to have medical issues, etc.

Neither of the sites anexconvict nor IC have a donation link. They do have a link to Zilla-aid-athon.

Ann needs to be reactionary and verbose to make her point. I’m not a blogger either, but I dare to talk with them. As a “notblogger” (trust me, I wouldn’t be good at it), I merely tend to support what these Patriots are doing.

The problem is that we need to get this out to the public at large. Being a person who works with government workers every day, I find very little opportunity to engage others to the constitutional conclusion of what one should do if they are patriotic Americans. The only way I can do this is what I did. I bought a bunch of pocket Constitutions and gave them away with a “take what you want” sign on the lunch room table. I bought 20 of them to give away free, and they are gone! I looked in the trash bin to make sure.

    What can I do otherwise?

Regarding Lemmen’s selflessness by declining to accept donations on his site:

Is it not interesting that he reports that his home had been photographed, provides no evidence to support this claim, and then publishes an address, which he claims in his. This address matches none of the Florida addresses associated with a “Paul H Lemmen” via Zabasearch (click through my name to see for yourself), though it is situated in the same town where Paul H Lemmen has or had a PO Box.

Am I saying that he set up a situation where he could simultaneously assume the mantle of a selfless pauper refusing electronic money (which has a paper trail, incidentally) but open an avenue whereby elderly crazy cat ladies, who don’t cotton to using credit cards on the interwebs anyway, could send to him a generous paper check, bearing the likeness of their Mr. Whiskers? No.

Am I saying this is what he could have done? Oh, yes. Yes, indeed.
