With respect to the notion that I can just suspend deportations through executive order, that’s just not the case, because there are laws on the books that Congress has passed — and I know that everybody here at Bell is studying hard so you know that we’ve got three branches of government. Congress passes the law. The executive branch’s job is to enforce and implement those laws. And then the judiciary has to interpret the laws.
There are enough laws on the books by Congress that are very clear in terms of how we have to enforce our immigration system that for me to simply through executive order ignore those congressional mandates would not conform with my appropriate role as President.

He is granting immunity (amnesty) to approx. 800,000 illegals who graduate from high school up to the age of 30 years. His next step will be granting amnesty to any illegal of any age who receives a GED.

When I was 30 I was married and moving into my second home. I had a sweet sports car, had been to Europe already…life was ON. Amazing what 60 hours a week at the office can get you if you try.

@cfm – the founding fathers forgot to factor in the fourth branch of the goverment working to aid whichever branch it favors most, or conversely hinder the one that it dislikes. It used to be an independent part of the check and balance system, now it just tips the scales.

I wish I could say I am shocked but I can’t.
His administration has already been blatantly practicing selective enforcement of existing laws until this point not only for certain laws, but certain groups of people. This is just a public admission to twist the arm of the Republicans to go along with the Dream Act so he can get the Hispanic vote in November.
Now the question is, “Will this ploy work?”
