Obama Stops Deporting Young Illegal Immigrants

People under 30 who entered the country illegally or overstayed their visas may not be deported.

In an election-year policy change, the Obama administration said Friday it will stop deporting young illegal immigrants who entered the United States as children if they meet certain requirements.
The shift on the politically volatile issue of immigration policy prompted immediate praise from Latino leaders who have criticized Congress and the White House for inaction, while Republicans reacted with outrage that the move amounts to amnesty — a negative buzz word among conservatives.
For Jose Luis Zelaya, who came to the United States illegally from Honduras at age 14 to find his mother, also an illegal immigrant, the new policy means that “maybe I will be able to work without being afraid that someone may deport me.”
“Maybe” he’ll be able to work. Or maybe he’ll just collect bennies.

An illegal alien caught in the US should be charged with at least a Federal FELONY! That way they can be held until deported. Not being a US citizen would allow for near instant deportation. No lawyers – no RIGHTS! The employers should be fined in the 5 figure area and personally be eligible for jail time if he knowingly hired an illegal. The “president” should put 40,000 ARMED troops on the border with orders to detain those crossing and s h o o t anyone ARMED and resisting. This would only need to continue til the word got around. Mexico should be FORCED (by military means if necessary) to take back their illegals. Flying plane loads of illegals into Mexico City would bring the press to bear on this problem also…….

I think it’s a wonderful idea. With the BOOSH taxcuts expiring next year and everyone getting hit, our deficit and debt sky high, and the penalties for renouncing US citizenship, some more indentured servants trapped here paying for it all seems like just the ticket! We can then get them on the student loan indenture too!! And as for the ones who come here dreaming of remaining poor – it’s much cheaper to be poor elsewhere. When the whole thing collapses I won’t be on the very bottom. Yee Haw!! /sarc off

Obama is meeting with Hispanic leaders next week and is desperate for full Hispanic support as he’s starting to lose the full black support he was counting on. I think that Issa and Congress should challenge him on this as it is that body that Obama is bypassing for political benefit.

There need to be some real CONSEQUENCES and difficulties for those who enter(ed) our country illegally.
Sure, there are many kids (some now adults) who were put in a very difficult situation by their parents who brought them here as minors. But, if others hoping to enter the country illegally see the gamble doesn’t always pay off, it’d go a long way towards staunching the flow of illegals.

Another thought. Obviously, the economy is a dead issue that he can not win on. There’s a resounding “I don’t care what other people did, what have YOU done?” response to his old tired “not my fault” whining. So, we have to play the race card with the hope this stirs people up and gets their minds off the economy.
What bothers me is that I’m seeing a trend of ever more desperate measures. The question is, how far is he willing to go? If legal reelection starts to seem out of his reach, what will he do to maintain what he sees as his “rightful place of power”?
