Henry Hill – DEADFella
Goodfellas is one of my favorite movies, but Henry Hill was a rotten human being.

He wasn’t a Goodfella. He was a scumbag who supposedly “agonized over his crimes.” He was a jerk on a small scale level, as well. Hippie Critic knew Henry Hill for a short period of time, and he was an asshole.

If there is indeed a Hell, I’m sure he’s now dancing to the devil’s tune.

Even a cursory glance at Hill’s life and words reveals what an ass he was, and I don’t buy that he “agonized over his crimes” one bit – if he did, he certainly didn’t mind making money off of it regardless. Rot in hell wise guy.

“Henry Hill was a hood. He was a hustler. He had schemed and plotted… “He knew how to bribe and he knew how to con. He was a full-time working racketeer, an articulate hoodlum from organized…”
Here is a portion of a story about Hill. Sound like anyone else in the news?

A-holes like Hill glamorized being a hoodlum and now every punk in the world wants to be just like him.

@ Ohio Dan – I guess people liking Henry Hill is the same as people liking 0bama. An asshole glamorized via media is still just an asshole.

Watch Goodfellas again. That movie didn’t glamorize Henry Hill at all. They showed what an ASSHOLE he and the rest of those mobsters were. If you thought that life looked GLAMOROUS, that’s your problem!

I just told some of the story of when Hill’s life crossed mine in an email to a friend. Being that I’m a lazy bastard, I just cut and pasted the following from the email (with a few changes to protect the innocent…me):
He and his family lived next door to us when I was a kid. My folks knew he was a hood, but we didn’t know how high up he went. I liked his son, and his wife (Karen) was very sweet as I remember. Henry was unfriendly and arrogant. I didn’t like him.
My sister used to babysit his kids. One night, I remember her coming home and telling my folks that he had boxes of cash everywhere. She was prone to tall tales so they thought she was making it up. One day, Henry was backing out of his driveway (he drove a white caddy with red leather interior) and smashed into my father’s parked car. Of course, Hill being Hill, he just drove off. My father saw it and started badgering him to pay for the repairs. Hill kept stringing him along until my father went over and threatened him with police action. Hill got really upset and told him not to do it. Well, the old man didn’t call but was still not letting it go. He was practically stalking Hill for the money. This went on until Hill and his family suddenly moved out (seemingly overnight). Well, decades later, the film Goodfellas came out and my parents went to see it. By that time they knew he was a pretty big hood (especially after the Luftansa heist in the late 70′s), but not so much about all the wackings. My mother told me that when the movie was not even halfway through, my father turned to her and said “Sh1t! Do you think he’s still pissed that I was gonna call the cops on him?!”
I’m guessing that the “Morris” character really shook my old man up (the one who keeps bothering Hill and “Jimmy Conway” for his money, leading him to getting killed)
