Walker Supporter ARRESTED at Opponent’s Rally

Home - by - June 1, 2012 - 13:05 America/New_York - 29 Comments

Buzzfeed-
A lone Scott Walker supporter was arrested at a campaign rally for Milwaukee mayor Tom Barrett today, where Bill Clinton also spoke. The man had been arguing with rally attendees since before the rally began, and held a sign that said “Support Scott Walker, Not Union Thugs.”

After the end of Clinton’s speech, the man was taken away by police and taken to the corner of Pere Marquette Park in downtown Milwaukee as the police waited for their car to arrive.

The arrest was the latest in a long series of incidents in a race marked by intense, personal bitterness on both sides.

A police officer on the scene would not say why the man had been arrested.

The man has been identified in previous news stories as David Willoughby, a swimming coach at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

His presence, which was vocal, angered many in the crowd, especially when he yelled “Tell me how you’re going to create jobs!” repeatedly as Barrett and Clinton spoke. He argued with Barrett supporters for the duration of the rally and even drew attention from speakers on the stage; Democratic Party of Wisconsin chairman Mike Tate mentioned him twice. One man in the crowd said he would “take him out,” and a woman told him “I’m a union thug and you’re ignorant as hell!”

all of those rowdy thugs who desecrated the capital, sent death threats, and hounded politicians with their “THIS IS WHAT DEMOCRACY LOOKS LIKE” chants, and I don’t recall many if any arrests.
But now one guy speaks up against the oppostion and he’s arrested? what happened to free speech.
I thought that was what democracy looks like.
    this guy is a hero.

And so it starts. Here it is, my friends. Goodbye to Free Speech in America. (Of course – that would be only if you’re on the right.)

“A police officer on the scene would not say why the man had been arrested.”

The reason is obvious: No free speech for conservatives. Same story in all totalitarian countries.

When the police are allowed to have unions they will no longer serve the “people” in political disputes such as this where the power of unions are challenged, they serve themselves. While a cops job is tough and fairly stressful they are well paid and have first class benefits and do not have a need for a union.

And here is what REALLY happened:
After Clinton spoke, the man moved forward to a rope line where Clinton was shaking hands and posing for pictures. Asked by police officers to back away, the man apparently refused.

He was later taken away by officers and was arrested. An officer said the man would be charged with disorderly conduct.

depends on what your definition of freedom of speech is. and for whom.
how embarrassing, in front of a national audience and the ethically-challenged former president.

    Weekly Standard writer on twitter:

    “John McCormack ‏@McCormackJohn

@rosiegray Cop also said Willoughby’s sign was “too close to the President”… But Willoughby was 30 feet from Clinton.”

That was it. Encroaching on the cone of influence. Wonder what the booking code for that will be.

This is what democracy looks like. Any questions?
