There’s a Reason We Don’t Have Hot Air On Our Blogroll

Home - by - May 31, 2012 - 23:39 America/New_York - 28 Comments

We only put conservative sites on our blogroll.

Ed Morrissey has taken the time to publish about his uncomfortableness with Fox and Friends producing and airing a video that compares the rhetoric of Obama’s 2008 campaign slogan, Hope and Change, with the facts of 2012. F&F made the video because Obama has indicated that he might go with the same campaign slogan again this campaign season. That makes it fair game for an opinion panel, which is what F&F is.

What has Morrissey so anxious? He’s concerned that this video will make progressives somewhat skeptical of Faux Fox news as a legitimate news source, and we can’t risk that happening. Obama might ban them from the press pool, or something.

Asked for comment, Chris Matthews, Ed Schultz, Al Sharpton, Lawrence O’Donnell, Soledad O’Brien, Dan Rather, Wolf Blitzer, Matt Lauer, Gayle King, Don Lemon, Paul Begala, Donna Brazile, James Carville, Martin Bashir, Rachel Maddow, Andrea Mitchell, Nina Totenberg, David Shuster, Katie Couric, Charlie Rose, Brian Williams, Bob Beckel, and Susan Estrich all expressed outrage with Fox and Friends.

Read the story that has one commenter dubbing Ed Morrissey “Queen Squishy.”

With the exception of Cavuto, I would be hard pressed to say Fox has a conservative slant any more. This is just a random moment of clarity.

Considering the big 3 networks give you about 22 minutes of obama propaganda every evening, I’d say this is pretty mild. But it is enough to make that thrill up your leg go suddenly numb.

HA is populated by RINO writers, somewhat of a surprise given it’s a Michelle Malkin spin off. You’d think she’d vet her contributors for backbone.

Yeah, Tepid Air can be annoying. The squishiness, the atheism bs (AllahP), the blog sycophants. They don’t allow trolls which aorta of kills the fun sometimes. Some of the folks sock-troll their own blog posts which I found annoying (but I’m not any Internet trend setter).

Everybody on the Internet gravitates towards forums they like (or like to troll) but HA and some other large forums have quite a few sycophants. If the post blasts “birthers” there are a dozen comments that excoriate “birtherism” but if you look at the person’s history, being anti-birther isn’t really their thing. It’s odd. I suppose it’s just human behavior, but I find it annoying. To me it looks like a parallel of the old media where the talking head stooges tell the people how to think. I really saw quite a bit of that when Obama issued the EO about commandeering things on peace time. Quite a few people just waited for the blog personalities to tell them how to think. I expected quite a bit more disagreement on the forums, but then again Big Sis is watching and everybody knows it.

This thing with trying to re-enact McShame 2008 and not be agressive with 0bama when we all KNOW he will play hard and crooked is STUPID.

I have had the same opinion of Ed Morrissey and his no-balls manner for a long time. When Bachmann won Iowa, he completely wrote off her accomplishment, claiming she only won because she bought everyone corn dogs. What an a-hole. But four years earlier when Huckabee won, Ed was all in a flouncy flutter! Plus he does movie reviews over there. WTF?!?!

    WZ?

It’s inside baseball stuff, but it’s actually very disappointing.
WZ actually contacted a friend and asked them to stop linking to another friend because they can’t risk their tongue being separated from a blogger from up on high.

I still linked to them because they have the most talented Feedburner in the business and our readers should have access to that.

I dropped them because they chose to sit out the Everyone Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day.

When we attempt safety in numbers, clasp hands and jump from the bridge, we can count on WZ to be standing up on that bridge telling us where the alligators are.

Actually Michelle Malkin,a principled and consistent conservative much like Fur, sold Hot Air to Salem Communications in Feb. 2010. The site has been trending more to the left ever since. Malkins own site is still conservative and a good read.

Malkin has nothing to do with Hot Air anymore. She sold it years ago. – bfh

Oh, horrors! The nerve of Fox News telling the TRUTH about the LIES that Obama spewed both before he gets elected and even now. Who do they think they are telling the truth?! Don’t they know that the truth will scare the independents and moderates?

Hot Air has always towed the National Review line. They bash Charles Johnson and LGF (who deserve it) but Hot Air fangeeks can be just as bad as Lizardoids

Hey BFA, you need to get Debbie Schlussel back on your blog roll…..she has a certain style and charming bedside manner that endears her to many people on the right side of the blogosphere :)

I read and remark as it suits me.

Is Morrisey as uncomfortable with the media’s constant attacks on GW Bush? Every day and night when Bush was in office, the media slammed him. And much of the time with no facts included.
The Obama video Fox put out has real facts.

Anyone want to bet Morrisey was a big fan of John McCain and the way he ran his spineless campaign?

Poppin’ Fresh (Ed) believes that if he is kind enough to the left that someday they will like him.

He, and squishes like him, do not understand that we are in a cultural war. We can no longer afford to sit back and play nice.

We have to adopt their tactics and use them against them.

    Isolate. Freeze. Personalize. Attack.

Thanks for this post. I was wondering what was up with Hot Air, and this story confirms what I was thinking: a RINO suck-up convention.

I’ve had comments deleted off of there that didn’t jive with their mythology of conservative history. Oh well, I’m sick of conservative talking heads going on about perceptions and such blather. I just want to get down the facts that matter: who’s giving who money and why. That right there would expose all the liberal stain on our country.

    A Blogroll is a statement.

We too took HotAir off of our list of preferred blogs long ago. Too commercial. Too anxious not to offend.

It is an honor to still have IOTW on our list. It is more than an honor to be on IOTW’s!

I just want to be clear. This is not a flame war, It’s just an observation, and a decision has been made based on these observations.
It’s not emotional or personal at all.
The other observation is that too many bloggers do not speak their minds out of fear that they won’t be linked, or whatever, by sites ahead of them on the site meter.
    That is what’s known as a sell-out.
I don’t like it in politicians, I don’t like it in blogs.

Hot Air… I don’t read it and I took it out of my bookmarks long ago. I have no time for this “loyal opposition, let’s be nice” crap. That mentality is what got Obama elected and leaves us with people like David Frum and Andrew Sullivan being passed off as “conservative”.

For my 2 cents worth, hot air was one of the first conservative blogs that I really enjoyed. That was 8 or so years ago. When Malkin sold, I continued to read it for about 4-5 months, then stopped completely.
