Joe Lieberman to introduce amendment making web hosts, blogs and forums potentially liable for anonymous commenters

Fire Andrea Mitchell

As if Joe Lieberman hasn’t done enough damage to this country and people’s privacy rights as a Democrat, he’s looking for one last homerun before he retires at the end of the year. According toPatterico, Lieberman will propose an amendment this coming week to section 230 of the Communications Decency Act. According to McIntyre Vs. Ohio blog, Joe Lieberman’s amendment would change the existing law under section 230 of the Communications Decency Act that currently gives immunity to web hosts, bloggers and forum owners from whack jobs who make anonymous but threatening or terrorist type comments. Lieberman wants to make those who enjoy immunity now potentially liable for anonymous cowards comments, all in the name of “anti-terrorism.” Congress failed to censor the Internet with the whole SOPA/PIPA debacle when Internet users let their feelings be known. This amendment by Lieberman will be their second attempt to censor the Internet as many blogs and even more comment sections and forums will shut down because of the new law.

Good ole Joe… always counted on for that Democrat vote, although “independent.” Why can’t you be like the Clintons and just be gone? I won’t read his book either. He has nothing relevant to say. The stupidity passing for wisdom in Washington is mind boggling.

But the haters on the Left will be exempt, right?

If you think he’s bad, wait till you get a load of the Dem idiots here in Connecticut hoping to take his place. It will probably be Chris Murphy, the Prog’s Prog.

Hope I don’t get the Big Furry guy in trouble.

Joe needs to amend the bill to include Verizon, Sprint, etc. Make them liable for the tweets coming out of Hollywood.

    I can accept this.
AFTER they pass the law that makes all legislators financially liable for any law they pass that is irresponsible, fraudulent, or unfunded. (That should cover 100% of their actions.)

Great. After adoption of this, the definition of prohibited speech will broaden to encompass even comments like:

Obama, you suck as a president.

How about an amendment forcing the DOJ to arrest organized groups who offer a reward for the kidnapping of a private citizen.
Oh, heck. How about an amendment that forces the DOJ to enforce our laws.

He can pretend to be an “I,” but that’s just cover for COWARDS too afraid to admit they’re “D”s deep down to the control-freak molecules of their core.

Loserman’s just put a sour taste in everyone’s mouth as his parting shot instead of quitting while he was ahead.

This POS can’t retire fast enough – though, if he does get it rammed through, provided it’s ENFORCED equally, I can think of a lot of libtard trolls that will be getting their faces ripped off by site owners.
