NO $5 FOOTLONGS DUE TO $10 MINIMUM WAGE

Subway’s signature $5 foot-long sandwich is no more in San Francisco due to the high cost of doing business and the city’s rising minimum wage.
NBC in the Bay Area reports:
The sandwich-making chain stopped selling the five-dollar footlongs in San Francisco due to the “high cost of doing business,” according to SF Weekly.
Signs posted at Subway sandwich shops sadly inform San Francisco patrons — we hear Willie Brown is a big fan — that “all SUBWAY Restaurants in SF County DO NOT PARTICIPATE IN Subway National $5.00 Promotions,” according to the newspaper…
Apparently, the city’s new minimum wage, raised to $10.24 as of Jan. 1, make $5 footlongs an impossible business model.

I stopped going to Subway, period, about six weeks ago. The one next to the grocery store we shop at has some ‘different’ sales, it seems. The sign said “$5 Footlongs” and listed the types for the month. I picked one, and told the lady “I’ll have the $5 footlong (subtype)” She snapped back “That’s only on Thursdays,” which is NOT what the sign says.
Then I remembered – this B____ says something like that EVERY TIME I picked one of the specials. So I walked out, and haven’t been back, and I won’t go back. It isn’t even worth my time to snap a photo of the sale sign and email it to the district manager asking him/her to identify ‘where the hell does it say ‘on Thursdays only.’
I don’t need to argue with people over their own advertising.

When the “Occupy” people were calling for a higher min. wage last fall, my counter-argument was this: If everybody at Burger King is making $20.00 an hour, how much will your Whopper cost now?

How can this possibly be true? Raising the minimum wage only helps people and raises buying power. There must be a mistake.

Minimum wage aside: you’d better be fluent in Spanish to get any kind of sub at my Subway.

“Ha ha! They get what they deserve. Subway sucks anyway. They hardly put enough meat on the sandwich.”
That’s always been my issue with Subway.
They basically make bread sandwiches.
That being said , the next step,of course, for the brain-dead lefties will be to pass a law that Subway still must price the sandwich at $5;price control.
Then Goodbye Subway.

@jarhead Cracka
well if they did the math $1.89.
Wonder if the next subway commercial will be, “10, $10 dollar, $10 dollar half a foot looooooooong”.

SF?
If you’ll just step down this alley, there is an individual who would be happy to offer you a “$5.00 footlong deal.”

And yet they’ll never understand this is the natural consequence of continuing to raise the minimum wage.

For those of you soured on Subway, try Firehouse Subs. They put plenty of meat on their sandwiches, and they blow Jimmy John’s out of the water. AND the chain was started by firefighters, and they do good work for charitable causes for firefighters and their families.

Don’t worry, the government will step in and take control of Subway, saving the day and bringing food to the masses…..

Kinda tells how thin the profit margins are at Subway. Even at thin margins their subs aren’t very good. Having said that I wish the franchisees luck as they are the ones that created jobs and gambled their fortunes, not like the city hall douchebags that constantly try to buy votes with taxpayor money. The city hall folks now have another great story to tell at the cocktail parties while businessmen are driven into a hiring freeze (which the progs will blame on them) or bankruptcy.
