Supreme Court justice Antonin Scalia humorously invoked the Eighth Amendment to the Constitution, which forbids cruel and unusual punishments, when discussing the Obamacare legislation during oral argument today at the Supreme Court.

JUSTICE SCALIA: Mr. Kneedler, what happened to the Eighth Amendment? You really want us to go through these 2,700 pages?

(Laughter.)

JUSTICE SCALIA: And do you really expect the Court to do that? Or do you expect us to — to give this function to our law clerks?

Is this not totally unrealistic? That we are going to go through this enormous bill item by item and decide each one?

MR. KNEEDLER: Well -

The “Mr. Kneedler” Justice Scalia was addressing is Deputy to Solicitor General Verrilli.
I guess Verrilli bailed after his weak performance earlier in the week and subsequent “debriefing” by his bosses.

Cruel and unusual punishment is what ObamaCare would do to us simply for being American citizens.

At this point, conservative lawyers and justices are justly playing the libs like a cat with a mouse. That or the like the King treats the Black Knight in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail”.

Didn’t any of the Supreme Court clerks read the bill to see what’s in it? Doesn’t anyone in authority read anything before signing it. These judges are not stupid. I wonder how many of them have children and realize that if they pass that piece of $hit Obummercare how their children will be affected by it as well. Kagan we know doesn’t have any children, but does she have brothers and sisters, and a living mother and father? This piece of legislation will change American history forever. I predict it will be voted down – all of it.

    Well…

I guess they didn’t teach irony at the law school that Kneedler attended.

We can only hope that’s so, G-foxx.

Considering the convictions of my heart for standing for freedom, they will have to either shoot me, incarcerate me or just leave me the hell alone if this stands. This being shot down will help eliminate the first two possibilites.
