Maureen Dowd, Still Cuckoo Pants After All These Years
A few days ago, Maureen Dowd reviewed Sarah Palin’s book. While it appears that, unlike some others, she may have actually read it, she turned the whole review into a ME moment; it was all about her. I’d fact check to see if she was at least accurate in the claims about herself, but, to be frank Miss Dowd, I’m just not that into you.
Today, she attempted to write about Sarah Palin… again. At first glance, I became a tad frightened because it looked as if I might actually agree with some of what she was saying.
Yet Democrats would be foolish to write off her visceral power.
As Judith Doctor, a 69-year-old spiritual therapist, told The Washington Post’s Jason Horowitz at Palin’s book signing in Grand Rapids, Mich., “She’s alive inside, and that radiates energy, and people who are not psychologically alive inside are fascinated by that.”
Upon closer examination, however, my fears turned out to be, thankfully, unwarranted. Firstly, while I do agree that Democrats are foolish if they write off Sarah Palin and dismiss her as inconsequential, this is not what they are doing. They are quite obviously frightened of the appeal that she has, hence the constant, and rather obsessive, attention paid to her. This is further evidenced by the fact that there are eleven AP “fact checkers” assigned to her book (Obama’s books? ZERO “fact checkers”) who aren’t really fact checkers at all, but people attempting to find any little thing at all with which to attempt to demean or diminish Sarah Palin.
The Democrats would be far wiser to be more worried about their own visceral reactions to Sarah Palin. As I said in response to Ana Marie Cox the other day, panning her simply because you think she’s icky is, well, icky. Y’all have no real reasons to give as to why you dislike her so much. The “But — but—Wasilla! And seeing Russia from her house!!” meme doesn’t hold water. Especially since you can, you know, see Russia from Alaska.
Secondly, Dowd couldn’t bring herself to actually stay focused on any positives regarding Sarah Palin. So, she turned to her second favorite subject (after herself, natch): The Smartest Man Alive ™. Maureen Dowd is as obsessed with delusional fantasies regarding Obama’s grey matter as Andrew Sullivan is with his creepy (and insane) fantasies about Palin’s uterus (I’m pretty sure he imagines it — constantly– and pictures it as a distinct entity. Likely all fancy and bedazzled.)
Not only does the tiresome and predictable Dowd hear non-existent shouts of “boy”, but she sees non-existent brains and ability.
He’s a highly intelligent man with a highly functioning West Wing, and he’s likable, but he’s not connecting on the gut level that could help him succeed.
Highly functioning West Wing? Oh! Perhaps you mean functioning alcoholics? That’s the only explanation that might make some sense, especially based on the recent KSM trial venue decision. Obama is highly intelligent? I have yet to see any evidence of that. Seriously, can we drop that “I disagree with Obama, but he’s a brilliant man” line that everyone trots out, even Republicans? Not only have I not seen any evidence of this alleged brilliance, but I think that Obama has pulled a Cox (the Ana Marie kind, people! Minds out of the gutter!) and talks about The Constitution without actually having, you know, read it.
She continues with her delusions, even attempting to compare Obama to Ronald Reagan (I was gasping with giggles at this part):
Like Reagan, Obama is a detached loner with a strong, savvy wife. But unlike Reagan, he doesn’t have the acting skills to project concern about what’s happening to people.
Hee hee! Savvy wife! By savvy you must mean totally the opposite of savvy. Strong, perhaps – if you are referring to her guns. At least Dowd displays an ounce of honesty in the second sentence. Obama does lack the acting skills necessary to project concern for people. I’m glad Dowd admits that he needs to act, because he actually does not care about, nor have concern for, anyone other than himself.
But you know what ticks me off the most, Maureen? (I feel as if we are on a first name basis since you so often profess to know what is in my heart and mind.) The fact that you are so willfully ignorant that you can’t even entertain the idea that conservatives are bright and not “stupefyingly simplistic” and that not all liberals are esoterically brilliant just because they have a D next to their name. Who’s profiling now, Maureen? We have honest, real, reasoned and valid disagreements and you purposefully refuse to see that. You, instead, jump shamelessly on the “You are too stupid to “get” Obama and how “impressively complex” he is” bandwagon.
Here’s something “stupefyingly simplistic” for you, Maureen. You stink. Bless your heart.
Now, see if you can use your Smarter Than You ™ mind to see what these two pictures have in common.

I do believe that Obama has pulled a Cox many other times in his life, and probably will again.

She made it about herself.
Just like when Barry made the anniversary of the Wall coming down a him moment.
These people are all reading the same playbook. I knew it anyway, but now they’re just being obvious about it. True arrogance.

Dowd is a narcissist like most of the left. They constantly pat themselves on the back for how bright they are. They bring self-aggrandizement to a whole new level.
To them any random thought must be an epiphany. Minor musings are strokes of genius.
They are always right, therefore any opposed are wrong. Since their correctness is a direct result of their perceived intellect any contrary position must be the work of stupity.
Arrogance on a scale not seen since the French Revolution.

I do not read Maureen Dowd. I do not profess to read her writings. What I know of her I only read here and on American Thinker. She sounds like a stupid ass to me. (Did I give away any secret answers there?)
The other night, I heard Sarah Palin refer to obama as intelligent, or smart, or something along those lines. I love Mrs. Palin dearly, but she really needs to get a stronghold on her true opinions. She knows as well as half the populus of the United States that obama is a fool, a sub-educated affirmative action rag, somewhat racist, and moreso anti-American. The sooner she admits that in front of the entire nation, the sooner most of us will get behind her.
Ms. Dowd, even though I am not familiar with her writings, will either hoist the flag or jump ship to one of the liberal parties.

ooh ooh! I get it– an as***** and an as* hole! Now if I dye my hair reddish purple, consume a quart of vodka each day and kiss Pinch Sulzberger’s arse, will the left keep reading my effluent long after the expiration date, too?
Great post,Snarky. I believe I’d call this a “column.”

“Perhaps you mean functioning alcoholics?”
I just got a call from the Functioning Alcoholics Guild…they demand an apology for the comparison. They don’t need any more bad press.

I think you’ll start seeing more grudging positive acknowledgment of Palin by the more intelligent leftists (sorry, NOT including Dowd here) as time goes on. Mostly because the realization is beginning to dawn that they have ‘blood on their hands’ from 2008, so to speak. The incompetent, narcissistic poseur now dwelling in the White House was put there ENTIRELY through their deliberate efforts. THEY made Obama out to be this wise messiah-demigod figure, and became his mmm-mmm-mmming proselytizers. And when Palin arrived on the scene, circumstances demanded that they view her as an evil, stupid monster — and smear her accordingly. It’s really no different than the behavior you’d see from a cult or any other mass movement… and indeed this was made almost embarrassingly plain on Inauguration Day.
Well, the Obamaphiliac spell (hypnosis? temporary insanity?) is wearing off for these people, now. And disillusionment is setting in. Some are in denial, and still angrily snarking and parroting the same thrice-refuted idiocy you heard from ‘08. But others are beginning to feel something that resembles ‘guilt’. And not just for how they treated Palin, but George W. Bush, as well. It’s going to be mightily interesting to see how these folk swing in 2010 — not to mention what changes we might witness in America’s media establishment and culture…

Let’s see, this is a trick question isn’t it? Maureen’s Dad or Mom has to be a Donkey. Maureen’s children if bred with a Stallion would be a Mule. Mule’s can’t reproduce but can be confused with Donkeys (which the left uses to “prove” Darwinism). Is Maureen a mule?

When Bitchelle walked down those stairs wearing the lovely jean shorts and tank top outfit (from the Martha Stewart Living Gardening Wear Isle 6 K Mart) I thought to myself: “Now thats a Savvy Woman!”
Then I looked up the word “Savvy” and found out that it does not mean “Arrogant Racist Bitch” like I had always thought.

Maybe we’re being a little too harsh here. I’m looking at that picture at the bottom of your article and I’m thinkin
Take ten years off of that female and I could make it with her
Of course, you’d have to get her out of that well first

She is heavy duty, deep woods man repellent. The Deliverance guys chose Ned Beatty even though if you look closely enough you can spot Maureen standing behind a nearby tree.

Don’t you love Lefties, and their narcissim? They’re all cut from the same cloth, worn by Obama himself.
The Left is threatened and frightened of Palin because of what she stands for, her morals, and because she won’t let the liberals bring her down. They are constantly sinking to new lows when it comes to dealing with Palin. They won’t even stop….not now, not hundreds of years from now.

I’m sick of hearing from these people how smart they are and how smart BO is, he’s the least qualified person in history to be elected POTUS, hands down. Morons like MD elected him. Nows that’s smart!

The donkey is at least cute, and I feel sorry for it. If it was braying at all it was calling for help and I hope it was saved.
With Dowd the braying never stops.
