Occupy Comics
Alan Moore, whose graphic novels V For Vendetta, Watchmen and League Of Extraordinary Gentleman have been turned into major movies, has joined the roster of Occupy Comics, a group of comic book and graphic novel artists and writers joining to support the Occupy protests nationwide. He joins his V For Vendetta collaborator David Lloyd, who came aboard last week.
(The coalition, which numbers 53 artists to date, also includes The Walking Dead‘s Charlie Adlard.) Occupy Comics is creating new art and stories inspired by the protesters and has already raised $15,000 on crowd-funding site Kickstarter; the plan is to roll out a series of digital comics early next year, followed by limited-edition paper comics and then a hardbound collectable book.
Moore will contribute a longform prose piece with illustrations, with Lloyd also offering up original art. All profits and payments will go to the Occupy movement, the group says.
!snip!
$15,000 bucks already, eh? Why do they need money? Shit is free, no?
I would love to do the answer to this stupid endeavor. I would donate all profits to ME, purely as a lesson in capitalism. Any backers out there? You’d get 25%.
I have the printer, our reader Printboy.
I hear crickets, as usual. The right has absolutely no machinery for this sort of thing. And if they do they are backing all the wrong people.

“All profits and payments will go to the Occupy movement…”
Good. Maybe they can buy some Delousing Stations or Port-A-Potty’s. Maybe a VD Clinic.
“…limited-edition paper comics and then a hardbound collectable book.”
It’s so good to know these Arteests have only altruistic notions and don’t support evil Capitalism.

Calendars, comic books, this, that, and a little of the other. It sure seems to me like some in the Occupy crowd, or at least on the sympathetic fringes, are trying to make a buck of their movement, which is ironically capitalism in action. But hey, it’s only evil if you profit – not me.

Make the pages perforated near the binding for easy tear-off. That way it can be used as toilet paper as well.

Frank Miller, author of “The Dark Knight Returns,” “Batman: Year One,” “Sin City” and “300″ has a different view of OWS than his graphic novel peer Moore.

After dropping a load of shiite on the side of a police car or the American flag, you can wipe your ass with the pages!

@@ CYNIC – they don’t use toilet paper – just scoot across the park like dogs with worms, and leave a brown trail.
Personally I want to contribute to the comics – I already have a rough sketch of OWSers jerking off, raping women & deaf men, and shitting in doorways and on sidewalks. I’m tellin’ ya, this is Pulitzer grade stuff!!
