    Before we go off on the internment of Americans of Japanese descent during WWII, we need to remember that Executive Order 9066 did NOT call for the internment. The EO merely gave the Secretary of War the authority to setup military zones in the continental US which allowed the gov’t to exclude people from the zones. It did not specifically say Japanese. It said any and all people.

    What happened was that Congress passed a law, which FDR did sign, that made it a crime to be in those zones if you were excluded. I wrote about this very situation here. So the Americans of Japanese descent were interred and it is now a part of the history of this country. It may not be a pretty part, but none of us was alive during WWII. We can’t understand their fear of losing, and that was real. So as an exigency of war many American citizens were rounded up and interred. Right or wrong, it happened. The question is, when 0bama does it, will it be racial, political, or religious? The answer to that question could be: Yes.
