    Be cautious when you anthropomorphize. The lion may just be tasting him for future reference.

    Any animal, even a human, will eat anything if they’re hungry enough. What looks like affection now could be meat tenderizing after a few weeks without food.

    I have an adopted cat that wouldn’t have anything to do with me for about 9 months. But during those 9 months I would feed him and let him stay in the garage on a “bed” during cold or bad weather. After a while he warmed up to me and now when he’s in the garage on his bed and I come in, he stretches out and begs me to scratch and pet him. We’re best buds now. But it took a while for him to trust me.

    This lion may be thankful, but that guy could be Thanksgiving dinner if the lion gets hungry.
